Blew my socks off the moment I saw it! I've always wanted to do a Lego mosaic, but I never really had the time to dig up lots of 1x1s, or the money to buy some. Now you're really tempting me!

Amazing work!

That's a great mosaic, ISC! As all mosaics it looks best from distance so I stood as far away from the computer as I could in my tiny apartment (maybe 4 meters  ). Great work with the colours and I like the mix of transparent and regular bricks in the text  Did you use some kind of software to make this or was it a free-hand work? Anyway it's very nice :sweet:

Holy cow, that's an amazing result. As Etzel said, it looks frightening real when you put some distance between yourself and your screen.

That's amazing, ISC! I saw it on flickr, and from the thumbnail I thought it was a real pic.

There's no need to only use 1x1s.

Wow! Amazing work! Is there any LEGO art form you can't master?

I'm not sure about the tan/ dark tan for the peeling makeup, the contrast seems a little high. But the mix of colours is superb and the font work with the softening touches using trans plates is very clever.

I used lots of 1x2 1x3 2x2 as well, but yes you do need a lot of 1x1s, i almost ran out of white ones.

Thanks Etzel, I cropped the picture down to even dimensions then shrank to 48x48 pixels, zoomed up the image and mapped out every single ^%&#$@$ pixel onto 12x12 grids at a time, needless to say it is quite time consuming but the end result is worth it

Excellent! I kept on scrolling back up and down to compare each little square inch of the mosaic to the original screen. Nicely done, very accurate as far as I can tell. I especially like the lips, good use of mixing reds with brown for a realistic result. A little piece of constructive feedback, though. I'm not sure I like that spot where the makeup has worn off- it kind of took my attention away from the rest of the mosaic. I would've just left the brown out of there, but that's just me.

I agree with the others who said that it looks extremely realistic when I take a step back from my screen. I've always wondered how this was done. Did you put the image underneath a grid the size of the plate, then built by color?

I think I might steal this as a background... if that's alright with you.
