Ratbat Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) When I first saw the pictures of the Stars, I was really happy. The final sets are look backs at some fan favorites. There's Takanuva, Tahu, a Rahkshi, Gresh, Nekta... Gresh?! Why the hell is Gresh in there? He isn't a big character, and never really did anything important. Skrall makes sense, considering they're the main villain of 09, but why Gresh? Well, anyway, I decided to get Gresh today. I dunno, at the store he just seemed to say buy me. The Canister- The average Stars canister. New & Recolored Parts- As you can see, there's actually quite a bit of new parts on Gresh. There's the new armor pieces which are only available in this set, two new feet in lime green, the gold armor part for Tahu, a lime green Gresh helmet (<3) and two blades now in silver. The torso piece is also now in dark green, but I didn't remove it in fear of snapping joints. That's quite a lot for his size. Building Experience- Gresh's build is simple and will only take you about thirty seconds. There are a few new things, such as adding the armor and the feet, but it's pretty much the standard Agori build. That's not a bad thing though. The Complete Set- Gresh looks great! The colors work great together, and are nicely balanced and placed. The lime green head also blends nicely with the colors. The armor is nice and definitely sets him apart from Tahu and Takanuva. The blades are a little large for him though. I would have liked to see them downsized, but that's something TLG probably wouldn't do. However, you can still merge them into a shield, which I think looks better: Gresh has the standard nine points of articulation which most small sets have had for the past few years. The bent arms help with action poses. Unfortunately, he can hardly turn his head without having it tilted. Also something to note, he makes a great companion to Skrall, as they are from the same year. Overall- Although his spot in the Stars line is quite questionable, I'm quite happy with Stars Gresh. He has some problems, but I find that they are minor complaints. He looks great, has good articulation, and is worth a purchase if you are into the Stars line. prateek Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 Great review! I like the colours on him, and the weapons look cool too. This is one of the better looking Stars for sure Quote
Front Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 The new armor looks great, and including 3 in this set does make a purchase more interesting. I don't like the mask in this single colour version, compared to the dual coloured of the Glatorian Gresh. Voted average, and will get the set sooner or later. Quote
Bfahome Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 The new armor looks great, and including 3 in this set does make a purchase more interesting. I thought it was a rather "meh" part until DX (known as Aho Midarezaki) pointed out how awesome they are as feet. Quote
VBBN Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 When I checked this guy out back in August, I honestly felt he was poor. I mean, there is no reason for him to be a star other than to fight skrall. The Lime Helmet is less appealing than the mixed one, and same goes for the silver weapons. On the plus side, he does have some decent armor bits. Thanks for that review! It seems you like to be doing this, and you have some key components down. If you would like to continue, I would highley suggest The reviewer's Academy, if you'd like to join just ask, I'm sure you would do just fine. -VBBN Quote

Aanchir Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I thought it was a rather "meh" part until DX (known as Aho Midarezaki) pointed out how awesome they are as feet. I like it because it echoes the design features it replaces from the old Gresh set (shoulder spikes and Inika torso armor), while going even further with extra stylistic consistency with the mask. In regards to MOCing, it's not phenomenal, but taking this set on its own it's wonderful part design. Quote
The Crazy One Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Thanks for the review mate. Deffinatley should join the Reviewers Academy. I am a member but I haven't got round to doing any reviews. I'm on a quest to get the whole Stars line today. x2 Tahus for display purposes. Quote
Big Cam Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 For as much as I despise Bionicle, I must say his helmet or face piece is really cool! Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Gresh looks fantastic. The lime head fits in well, the new pieces look amazing, and I really like the overall look. Stars for the win!!!!! -ZotS Quote
ShadowWolfHount Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 The Star Gresh is a good set but I don't get why Gresh have a Lime Green Helmet and a Trans-Neon Green head, it just looks really odd plus I think the helmet will look better in Dark Green but with this set it will not work, so the helmet is alright but I still think they should have of used a different head. A thing I don't like about it is that it's the only set with those armor and in Lime Green, I hope we see those armor again in another set seen. Now the feet do fit better with him then Tahu and the Sword being Silver is great. Overall to me the Set... odd but good and good for parts so i do recommend it as well, I think. Quote
