UPDATE IN POST #32

First off, I'd ;ike to thank CGH for helping with the steps of the mid sections
Still, a WIP

Le Défenseur means Defender in French this ship is named that to be Defender of the seven seas.




Working on the head rails, Criticism and comments and feedback much appreciated


Still not sure if I should have these prints on the gunports or plain red gunports.
For now m using these because I dont have enough plain.


Thats all CGH's work, The stern and top will be my works



Feedback much appreciaed next I will be working on the Captains Cabin.

Excellent work General! I'm glad you have a ship soon to sail on!
I think you should get plain red gunports, the print isn't realistic IMO. You are doing a great job on the curve and tumblehome.
The headrails are a bit blocky though, perhaps removing one row and replacing it by a yellow hose?

Fine ship indeed! My only comment is that the headrails look a bit disorganized, try to give it some more structure.
And for the rest everything looks good, keep it up!

Looks like a great project!  

I like the plain red gunports better.
The 2 plates in the bow which are now white, might look better in yellow as they are attached to the headrails.
Your headrails look a bit bulky, try to get the endings at the side of the figurehead closer together.

Another awesome ship in progress. Cap Green hair has really set the trend. Looking good so far General, nice colours and shape, and to be honest, i quite like the printed gunports because its different. Even tho you probably will choose plain ones.  I look forward to seeing more of this. Pity its going to be a bluecoat ship tho! Am i the only Privateer on this forum?

Nice improvement on the headrails already, I agree they are very, very hard to do! I support the suggestion of the good Captain Greenhair.
Are you also going to use blue in it?

I think the 1x4 yellow plate in the lowest row should be replaced by a 1x3 plate. And another 1x2 plate between the 1st and 2nd line, close to the ship.
Furthermore it's a nice improvement.

I started to work on this frigate again a couple days ago, I now added the floor boards of the first deck! Also Right now I am working on the captain's quarters....

Looks great general! Outstanding progress.
Just a small nitpick: The crew slept between their cannons, below the gundeck we found the orlop deck, with powder magazines and sickbay. Places which should be under the waterline. The hold lies under the orlop deck.
Her colours are great, and it's awesome you are going to add an interior!

I believe I have to disagree with you captain   Since on (a lot of) frigates, the crew slept on the 'mess deck' or 'berth deck', which was under the gundeck and below the waterline (like on the HMS Trincomalee here)
So if you ask me, I'd say, let Armendariz place his hammocks below the gundeck. And ofcourse on the Fourageux, they can be placed on the gundeck

Thanks for the advice, I dont need to change anything. I could just say that is the ammo/sick bay room.

Just leave it as is.

On VERY large ships, first, or second rate ones, In order to save space/make things less crowded the hammocks were usually put on the gun deck(s), though not neccisarily in between the cannons.

On ships with only two decks below the main one, like yours, You would have some hammocks and possibly cabins in the orlop deck. If you wanted things to be less crowded (a ship like this would have AT LEAST 150 people) You might want to add hammocks on the gun deck.

However... like I said earlier, you'll be perfectly fine if you leave it as is.

Well, here is an update. Excuse the not so good pics....




Nothing on the stern, but it will be built soon...






No headrails right now, still working on it.



Still need to buy string for rigging, any suggestions on what string to get?

I used a type of heavy upholsterer's string from Pat Catans for my schooners rigging, and also, she is coming along beautifully, I can't wait to see her done!
