Day 4

Posted Image
Late at night, a solitary mysterious figure making it's way along a corridor aboard the Gagarin.

Posted Image
Though not alone, following close behind, another mysterious figure.

Posted Image
"Hey, you, what are you up to?" "Stopping you from doing any mischief tonight."

Posted Image
Unnoticed by any of the two figures a third mysterious figure snuck into the corridor, deciding wisely to stay away from the first two.

Posted Image
..who soon started to fight

Posted Image
..and just as soon the fight was over.

Posted Image
Behind lay a mysterious figure, unconscious.

Next morning the crew was again met by Ivanova on the screen.
Posted Image
Good morning everyone. Today I seem to only have good news, as no one was killed this night. So, only thing for you to do is to get on with the negotiations.

9 Days remaining until black hole's gravitational pull will be too strong for our engines to achieve escape velocity.

Rules
(borrowed from Dragonator )
This game will follow the basic conventions of a Mafia Game. Each "Day", you will be given 96 real hours in which to vote for someone to kill. The day will end as soon as a majority decision is reached, or when the 4 days are up. If someone has been convicted, you will find out their loyalty shortly after end of the day. After this a night phase will begin, which will last 48 real hours. Then the cycle will repeat. Those players with night actions must PM them to me during the night phase. If I do not receive them within the 48 hours, they will not be counted.

- There are two main sides in the game, not-infected and infected. Your winning criteria is included with your character PM.
- Voting is to be done in the day thread, and should follow the following format: Vote: Character (Player). Please note the use of bold. This is the only format that will be accepted. To unvote someone, the same applies: Unvote: Character (Player).
- There will be no voting in the first 24 hours of a game Day.
- No unvoting after a conviction has been reached. Do this more than once and you will be killed.
- You may not edit your posts. Do this more than three times and you will be killed.
- Out of character (OOC) posts should be kept in the Discussion thread.
- No metagaming.
- There are no clues in the pictures, so don't look for them.
- Do not post in the Day threads when dead. You're dead, act like it.
- Do not ever directly quote something the game moderator has sent to you via PM, whether it be your character information, night action results, or any other form of communication. Violation of this rule will result in a moderator kill. You may of course paraphrase any information you receive; if it is your own words then it is fine.
- Do not discuss game tactics or "play the game" outside the game thread, including in the General Discussion thread. You may communicate privately via PM, but this is at your own risk, and should be considered part of playing the game.
- Please be considerate towards the host. I will try my best to stick to the schedule, and your cooperation will help this greatly, particularly getting night actions in promptly.

Voting may start at 22:50 UTC Friday, 27th of November.
On Day 4 it takes 9 votes to convict.

Well, this is troubling news. And yet we draw ever closer to the sucking singularity as one by one wieners proliferate inside our bodies like mushrooms after a moist rain! I guess in light of yesterday's discussion, and the difficult position Security Chief Michael has been put in, the uninfected investigator should step forward and explain themselves...

Oh, wait! That's me!

Yes, it is I, Barney Vance, who has been drugging members of staff and dragging them down to med-bay to perform surreptitious body scans, and check pockets for loose change, empty condom wrappers and suchlike. I think you all deserve an explanation, as far as I have one.

On Night 1, I attempted to investigate 'Big Suze' Antares, but was blocked. You think a commander of her experience would have some sense not to be posting in-thread bait trying to get the investigator to reveal themselves so early in the game... which perhaps suggests that she is not as innocent as she is pretending, and basically asking everyone and anyone to protect her from Night 1 on the basis she's the commander (and sooooo important) was a cunning guise.

On Night 2, I investigated Sarah Ohce. The results were odd, but definitely conclusive - she was infected! Well, we have clearly seen since then that she wasn't. Gambling that not more than one of the security staff was Infected, and trusting my results, I contacted Security Chief Michael. It is quite possible (according to scenario 4 as outlined yesterday) that I was stupid to contact Michael and, as an infected host for these space wieners, he used the opportunity of my disclosure, knowing it was false, to get rid of Sarah (who he would have known to be uninfected) and moi.

The only other thing I learned is that he has a cozy cozy relationship with Big Suze, so if he is infected, then she probably is too. Possibly they are even in cahoots!

On Night 3, on the word of an anonymous tipoff, I investigated Engofi, who I had been told was definitely infected. My results came up clear - the body scan showed him to be absolutely free of space wieners. Curious and curiouser.

In conclusion: As far as I can tell I am not paranoid, since I'm not getting solely guilty results, so the conclusion is either I'm insane or I am actually right and Sarah Ohce was an unfortunate anomaly whose manner of death didn't reveal the subtle manner of her infestation. Personally the only way I can see forward is by voting off Engofi, which would confirm one way or the other what my role is, but I will understand if you don't want to rely on me any further, haha!

Apart from that, I have little to tell you.

Barney Vance, over and out

Hmm... judging from these pictures (and I say that this is my analysis- not the positive answer, Michael), that the first figure was a killer, the second was a roleblocker, and the third was Barney, the investigator.

But, revealing yourself to everyone, Barney... quite a risky move. You really painted a target on your back- for what? To blame Michael? We already found out that you were wrong with Sarah- but you said you got weird results, and talked about an infected baby of hers yesterday.

You may have good intentions about wanting to find your sanity- ad I do trust you- it's just that it seems like you want to plant the targets on Michael and Engofi. I'm not saying you are but let's say you're infected. That would mean both Engofi and Michael are both clean, and by the time we figured it out, both of them would be voted off.

What makes me say this is the willingness on your part to reveal your role. Why paint a target on your back? Why do it just to find your sanity?

I do trust you- but this makes no sense.

By the way, some of us are awfully quiet. Where have Wicwa, Ivan, Varax, and Niwrard been?

I've been busy with the Navigating, albeit theres not much navigating going on. I've been trying to find another course outta this black hole situation, looks like there ain't nothing we can do about it for the time being.

Barney, this isnt a smart move at all, each person on this ship counts at the moment if we're to beat the infected amongst us.

This is just getting more confusing as it goes along...  :hmpf_bad:

Well, I explained all this in fairness to Security Chief Michael, who reported what I had found without distortion and at no particular benefit to himself. If Sarah Ohce *had* been infected then I wouldn't have revealed myself.

Either Michael would have told everyone who I am or we would have spent another day playing 'But the investigator said that!' 'But they were wrong!' 'But maybe Sarah *was* infected - with a baby!' and so on and suchlike.

Really, I am just trying to think of likely scenarios which would explain what I have observed (and been told) so far.

Obviously someone out there knows more than I do. Maybe they can fill in a few gaps.

What the heck? This is quite strange. Are your machines functioning properly Barney?

As for some info I thought I had, I would like to investigate it a bit more before I reveal it, and I ask that the persons who know what I am talking about remain quiet for at least another day please. Thanks.

You expect us to make edible meals without our supply of wieners that we had to destroy?

With the wieners it was faster to make meals such as Wicwa's famous wiener moatballs, pumpkin&wiener pie & my signature dish the "Wiener Surprise", But we're stuck with this ancient meat that I dug out of our freezer. No one has used beef or chicken in in quite awhile. :look: I've had to look through many pages on the kitchen's inbuilt reciepe guide just to see how to cook this strange god-forsaken meat.

Sorry I've been stressed lately seeing as I'm having to work with food I'm not used to working with.

I'm sorry for not partaking these meetings actively, I've been busy with getting rid of every lump of meat from the kitchen - and trust me, there was a lot!

I have to say I'm as confused as the rest of you. Apparently this night the blocking went perfectly for some people. :sceptic:

As far as you go, Barney Vance, it is really very brave of you to step forward as the ship's investigator. I admire your courage, but I also think it is very risky. An investigator is so valuable to us that I actually hope you're just the real investigator's decoy. Let's hope it turns out the best way.

Judging from the awfully misguided voting yesterday, and thinking who oh-so-subtly initiated it, I think we have a few clear suspects... Alas, 24 hours hasn't passed yet so I can't really vote anyone.

OK, now I must say I'm really lost. Despite all our efforts yesterday to follow the correct path and use the evidence our investigator found to help us get rid of one of the infected, it appears to have blown up in our faces. :sceptic: That said, we can at least be glad there were no killings in the night, that gives us a little more time at least. I don't really know what to do now, I followed the advice of our Investigator and his supporters yesterday because it seemed legitimate, but to have it turn out to be wrong is rather depressing. I think one question we need to keep in mind is, was it an innocent mistake, or was there something more sinister behind it? For the moment, I am fairly happy to go with thinking it was perhaps just an innocent mistake, but I would like to hear what the rest of you think. Barney, while it could potentially be fatal for you to have come forward like this, I think it is good that we now have the closure on who the investigator is, as it will make it easier for us to sort out this mess and hopefully find who the real infected people are. Perhaps we can still learn something from what you have to say.

One thing that caught my attention was what you did last night. Can you tell us who this "anonymous" tip off was, or do you not really know? Clearly something is not adding up there. If you think the person who tipped you off was reliable, then perhaps you are simply getting the opposite results from your scans each night? I think if we can look into this a bit more first, then we might find a lead for today, it seems as good a starting place as any, and we need to make today as productive as possible. What say the rest of you?

The tip came through Michael. I have no reason to particularly trust the original source. I already had my own suspicions about Engofi, so it seemed logical to choose him.

I had one other hint about who to investigate, from a different source. All I will say is that they are not humanoid in appearance.

I don't mind putting my life on the line here if it means we gain some progress today. To be honest I'd rather be tossed out the airlock or brutally murdered whilst I wander the amazingly similar looking sections of these flatpack corridors than unbeknownst to myself be infected with some wiener-shaped life form, losing self-consciousness as its sausagey infiltration takes place, no doubt laying millions of larval babies inside me ready to devour every cell, chewing away at me and eventually rupturing my vital organs until one day I explode into a cloud of malicious worm-shaped hostile aliens. Probably just before we sail into the black hole.

We don't have a clue? You're damn right we didn't have a clue, we're being given intentionally misleading information to go on and doing the best we can in the dark. I'm seriously beginning to think that the ship's AI is infected as it's acting as a very poor host to it's crew by spewing such crap. If we make it out of this alive, I'm going to ask to have it flushed out and replaced with something better, maybe a Commodore 64 with a faulty tape drive. :hmpf_bad:

I am not pleased at all. I don't like being fed faulty information when it leads to the death of one of the crew. That said, I'm starting to believe it isn't the fault of the investigator but some other form of deception occurring. When I was in the Academy, I almost married this perfectly delicious magician I met while he was working at The Mystical Castle Amusement Park, but someone who was out to get him began leaving odd things in his room: panties, perfume, jewelry, the kinds of things that would make it appear that he was cheating on me, so I dumped him. When I found out later that it was a scum trick, I felt really badly about it. Let's not make that mistake, if that is the case here. Let's also not take the newly revealed investigator at his word, though a lot of what he says makes sense given that I blocked him on night 1 thinking he could be infected (we had nothing to go on yet, someone had to be blocked).

Not sure that the third one was Barney, but you pegged the first two, of which I am number 2. That makes the killer ...

You.

Awfully smug for an infected flarnixsucker, aren't you? Oh, wait, he'll claim to be the vigilante, except for one thing, given the fact that the infected would never intentionally miss a chance to kill one of us, why didn't they try it last night? Because I blocked them. The security tapes clearly show that only one person was blocked, and since I did it, we know who. Now their little wiener friends will try to keep them alive so they can kill me tonight before I ruin their little scheme any further.

As for knowing she wasn't infected, the only way you could be sure is if you're infected yourself, even the ship's scanners couldn't accurately call that one until it was too late.

I know where my vote will go when the time comes, I'd like to see the infected wiener killer fried first thing tomorrow.

Barny, thanks for sharing the info on your role though it might have been a bad move on your part. I know that I would trust my results coming from the heavily god (the host) but if you vote me off you will all regret it.

Anyway there was obviously confusion about Sarah but I feel like that was an innocent mistake, so I won't bring on a vote on someone about that yet.

That's ok Antares, if you decide to go after me you will see that I am innocent then you have shown yourself to be the infected. It seems as though you are merely trying to deflect attention away from you Michael and Barney now that you were all shown to be acting on the wrong information. My reasons for knowing that Sarah was innocent were based on the fact that she voted for an infected member first. There was no pressure being put on Sarah for her to even contemplate voting for another infected if she herself truly was, that is how I knew she was innocent.

This is why I find it interesting that I could be so sure of Sarah allegiances, yet you doubt me. Wasn't it you who stated you blindly trust Michael, yet how can you know his allegiances when you are a Blocker and not an investigator?

Crap I hit add reply before typing. Stupid quote button. Hold for full post please... :hmpf:

Ivan the terrible is the one who suggested Eskalon/Engofi was infected. He didn't offer much backup but I fwed the info to Barney. Ivan's source seems suspicious as he is throwing about a bunch of hearsay and claiming that his source was "right about (Fassin Trevlac)." The rest of Ivan's reasoning was based on the fact that Engofi wasn't voting for Sarah, which we now know was actually a good thing for Engofi to do. Ivan also told me that he though Sarah was infected so my source (meaning Barney) was most likely paranoid-which doesn't make sense because Ivan was going on the assumption that Sarah was infected. *huh* In conclusion, Ivan is not a good person to rely on or speak to behind the scenes as the info given is pretty weak...

Furthermore, I'm still perplexed by the information Sarah knew about the scars on her belly. What was it she said about that? Oh right...

View PostSir Dillon, on Nov 23 2009, 10:38 AM, said:

Well, it's hard to say anything against such an outright accusal. I am not infected though. There is something inside me, but it is not a wiener, and I have the scars on my stomach to prove it. I don't know how the medical scanner works, but I'm assuming it sees whether something is there or not, but cannot tell you what it is exactly. Maybe Sheridan could confirm this?

I realize how lame that sounds, but it's the truth. Because of that, you may not want to be so quick to jump on the supposed investigator, as they could just be mislead.
Here again, we see that something is inside her but it's not dangerous and there are scars on her stomach. Was something implanted in her to make her unifectable? Boy, that would be convoluted... Clearly she knows something is odd about her condition and her role in this game...of life and she's laying the groundwork to not go after Barney, because she knows how misleading this information is. Rather nice of her considering we were about to shove her out of an airlock to her death. Does anybody else have scars on their bellies??

View PostSir Dillon, on Nov 24 2009, 09:50 PM, said:

Well, it seems I'm stuck in quite the situation. To be honest, if it were someone else in my place, I would probably vote for them, so I don't blame most of you. I don't have enough information to satisfy you, and am not quick enough on my feet to make up something plausible. Here's what I do know:

I am not infected. This "condition" has been around since before I even became part of the security team on Gagarin, and I am not dangerous as long as I'm alive.

As far as the various scenarios, at this point I believe that both Sheridan and the investigator are innocent. My guess is that the on first night the investigator scanned Sheridan and found him the be loyal. The next night I was scanned and found to be abnormal, so the investigator contacted Sheridan who in turn spoke publicly.

Or maybe they're both infected and deserve to be exterminated. :cry_sad:
OK, so here Sarah gives us the rest of the info she knows... She isn't dangerous as long as she's alive. That's important, we have to figure out what that means! How would she be dangerous if she died due to whatever was inside of her... Does anybody have a theory about that???

What's annoying about our AI is that she knows what's going on but won't help us. The note on today's security log says "You don't have a clue, do you?" What a bitch!

Here's what we know:

  • Wieners enter people through their heads. (We saw this on the first security log)
  • Sarah had something inside her that appeared to enter through her belly.
  • Sarah claimed the scars on her belly proved she wasn't infected.
  • Sarah also said she wasn't dangerous as long as she was alive.
  • Barney claims to have investigated Sarah and the scanner gave him incorrect information.
We've got a lot of thinking to do here... :look:

I belive to see who is innocent and who is guilty here we have to look at each case seperately.

First person who I have suspected is Antres.  I'm still not sure about her, but for now, there is an easier way to figure out her side besides voting her off, which we must try, since if she is our blocker we would be better off not losing her.  She's also made herself a very central figure, which would be very dangerous if she was infested.

Next is Micheal.  He seems to have been acting on Barney's word 100%.  I say we leave him alone for now.

Next comes Barney.  I believe he is also innocent, though perhaps not getting correct results.

Next is the fish.  It all depends on Barney's results.

Finally is the rock.  His infestation all matters on Antres side.

So, here's what I suggest we do.  Vote of the fish today, and see his side.  If he's infested, then we know that Barney gets his results in reverse.  If not the whole plan is gone.

This leaves Barney investigates Antres.  If she is proven innocent by his reversed investigations (which woul be a results of guilty, but we'd know it was innocent) then we voteoff the rock tomorrow.

If Barney is killed tonight, then we kill the rock tomorrow, no questions asked.  That sounds fool-prrof to me, as long as the fishy is infested.

Everyone understand the plan?  Any thoughts?

I like your plan. If Antres can block Rock-face again tonight that should stop us from having to worry about what he might achieve if she's right. Can we vote yet??

Vote: Eskallon/Engofi Cheipo If anyone would like to protect me tonight that would be good too. I assure you I have no problems being blocked again, however would rather not be killed by the infected killer.

I submit myself to investigation by any other Investigators tonight as well. Then they will know themselves whether I am infected or not. It sounds good if Barney could investigate Antares too.
Bring on tomorrow. We might just be getting somewhere here.

I also would like to say that if Antres is found infected, I would like to seriously consider Micheal's side in this whole ordeal.

Since this seems to be the plan and it makes a certain amount of sense, I'm fine with blocking as requested and going with the current vote. Just remember, if they also have a blocker, they may be able to keep me from doing my job and end up using this chance to kill someone while trying to make it look like we're wrong. Tomorrow may result in a very complicated situation, if we live.

I can insure the block at least. If it doesn't work, we'll know what has been pulled.

Given the results with Sarah, we have no reason to assume that an investigation will help at all. If the investigations could be trusted, she wouldn't be dead.

Shadows is looking for stalkers. Yep, you heard me right. CLICKY!
