The Lost Temple Of Angkor Wat

Recommended Posts

Ok, this has to belong here. It has to. If not, you've got your work cut out for you Sir Dillon.

"An explorer and his guide stumble upon a sinking temple deep in a Cambodian jungle."

Obviously inspired by the hindu temple from Disney's "Jungle Cruise" along with some temple found in Disney's Animal Kingdom [Anandapur, respectively] and Angkor Wat - this is kinda a history/fiction crossover.

That's awesome! :oh: I like the frog statues on it. Though I think it could be a teensy bit bigger, after all, it is a lost temple. What is the orange thing? A tiger?

Dunno. Looks pretty Adventur-ish to me.

Great Moc, the building and tree are really great, all the detail you've put into them.

Angkor Wat is a real place, its in Cambodia. :classic:

Wow, this is great! You've captured the shape of the Angkor Wat temples very well, but I love the sinking pillars and the mangrove tree the most.

Very nice and recognizable work, you've caught the round shape of the temple and the mangrove roots growing over down pretty good!

I do find the green floor somewhat plain, some sand pools (tan plates) and vegetation might make it look a bit more realistic in contrast to the rest.

Wow, another magnificent MOC by SirNadroj :cry_happy: The building techniques are just impressive and the tiger is... well perfect!

Simply wonderful, as usual! It captures this "Adventurers vibe" perfectly!

Just one thing though - where can I find bigger images of your creations? They are all rather small..

EDIT: If TLC ever continues the fan-made-sets series (what I doubt) - I just wish they'd ask you!

WOW that's brilliant! The atmosphere and all (clever!) little details are really spot-on.

Very intresting techniques and bricks you choose! I've seen enough MOCs from you by now to say I became to like your way of doing things, great style. Creative and recognisable

Awesome build SirNadroj. My only criticism would be with the tree and tiger? For a tree with such a huge trunk, the branches are pretty small. Maybe you should try extending the limbs out more giving it more of a canopy feel. Also the tiger was a little confusing. At first I thought it looked like someone had tied up a tiger. Then I thought to myself, who tied up the tiger and why? :classic:

Thats amazing! I love the tiger. That is a very clever way of making stripes. The whole structure is very neat and the tree rocks!

You like to live precariously, don't you? This creation might actually fit better in the Action Themes forum as part of the Adventures line, but since it isn't actually from the theme, and the building is ancient, I can let it stay here if you like.

My favourite part of this creation is definitely the pillars and the way they're leaning, but the building itself is also very cool. I like the tree trunk a lot, but agree with Darkagent that the branches should be much larger. I also think the green swamp water could look better with some debris scattered about, even if they were just plant leaves.

Very impressive! I love all the angles you've managed to incorporate and out-of-alignment pieces, it so wonderfully carries off the ruined look! For a plain green SNOT surface, it nevertheless looks pretty "swampy". The amount of detail on the temple/ruins looks superb. I like the look of the tiger too.

It looks like a construction that took some time to arrange!

Thanks for the feedback everyone - it's appreciated; just a note, the green SNOT is supposed to be swampy water (very tranquil and serene); this picture should give you a good idea of my inspiration: http://www.flickr.com/photos/cdomenig/182764481/

I thought the SNOT green had that poisonous emerald taint of algal water and looks perfect as is.

Beautiful work; the tree is particularly impressive with its gnarled and ancient roots.

I like it a lot. The tree is great, although it might need to be a bit bigger at the top. the green part is a bit small in regard to the size of the trunk, imo.

But the used techniques for the tree are great. I didnt figure out on my own that the flat green surface was actually water/swamp.

I just wondered why it was so "dull/ empty/ flat" compared to the rest of the MOC. But now I know.

The tiger too stylised for my taste. Initially, I thought an orange blob was tied up with elastic bands.

Which made it look strange and out of place. After reading it was supposed to be a tiger, I must say the color really adds to the scene.

All in all, very well done.

This is really awesome.

As someone who has been to Angkor and spend a lot of time exploring the temples you have really captured the way they have been reclaimed by the jungle.

Its beautiful yet earily quiet.

Reminds me more of Ta Prohm than Wat though.
