Well then. most of you people around here probably dont know me. I JUST signed up on eurobricks, but Ive had a fascination for pirates and Legoes long before that recent moment. When school got out for me on June 10th (I'm only thirteen), I began assembling this fifth rate ship of the line (it has 39 cannons, would be 40 but one cannon port is taken up by the anchor line). After two weeks of assembly, and one week of adding the rigging and sails, (I used about 50 meters of twine) well, it was "completed". In my eyes nothing is ever really "completed", Only more or less detailed. But thats my own psychology, and few sailors give a $@?& about psychology, so i'll stop myself before things get ugly. Anyway If you were wondering why I named it the HMS Rochester There's a good reason I named it so. My father served in the navy (US) And was stationed on a nuclear submarine. The name of that submarine was something something Rochester, and thus the name is sacred to me. Enough of my nonsense, time for the pics. do feel free to comment about anything, and I mean (almost) anything

Nice ship man, and welcome to Eurobricks and Classic-Pirates.com.

But your images are waaaay to big, and people with slower connections will hate you for it. I suggest you have a look at our Batch Image Resize tutorial.

Nice ship! It's cool that you already know so much about ships. I like everything about the ship, except for the length. It is a bit short, do you not have more hull pieces? It would be good to add 3 more hulls, or remove the lower deck. But other than that, it looks great! Do you not have imperial soldiers? The name says "british" but the crew says "pirate". Oh well, as your collection grows, so to does your shipbuilding skills!

I would have the flags flying the opposite direction...if the wind is in your sails, your flags will fly forward, not aft.

Looks very good , but you really need to resize your pictures to a max. of 800x600, since this is a general rule here.

This is one great first ship! certainly better that my first ship. But then again, I built my first ship at the age of 8. That rigging looks amazing.  So do the sails.  Brown cloth sails =   .   I really like how you made a brick built hull rather than using those pre-made hull pieces. Great job, keep it up!  Oh, that figure head looks great too.     ~LW 8~

I think that the hull is too high. I see your building skill is quite good, but I would like to see the mast to hull ratio a little more in proportion. Remember, such a high ship means there is even more under the water, this makes me believe that the ship is slow, and therefore, not fit for battle. Bring down the hull somewhat and make her "lines more lovely".

I do have to admit that growing up on the Great Lakes in the States, our Brigs of the War of 1812 were very close to the water. This might be part of the reason why I do not like hulls that are too high.



One thing I forgot to ad is that I do love the look of your sails, both their color and size!
