David climbs down into the shaft to catch up with Pete and Hans. Pete shines the flashlight into the tunnel, and the two and 1/2 men procede to walk carefully. Cobwebs cling to the damp walls and the light sound of dripping water can be heard in the distance. drip... drip... drip...

David climbs the ladder slowly with Hans close behind. After several minutes and steps upward, they begin to see light toward the top of the ladder. A small grated vent (large enough for one to pass through) separates them from the warm sunshine.

Hmmm... well, they're stuck inside the tunnel and the sunshine is visible, so that means I should be able to walk outside and follow a path in the general direction of the tunnel until I reach the grate.

The others catch up with David and Hans as David lifts the grate. They climb out of the shaft realizing that they are beneath the main street area.
They can see a hotel, a municipal-type building, and an old wooden structure that looks like the Constable's Office across the street.
