DNL Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I was inspired by Duke's Tar Valon MOC and made some of the characters of The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan: There are some characters missing, i couldn't make those because i don't have the right parts yet. A group of Aiel warriors: I recommend the books for everyone who hasn't read them yet, they are really great. Quote
Etzel Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Great job! I like Nynaeve and Mat best, there are most like my idea of how they look. The rest is good to, especially the aiel. Great use of the forestmen cap as leather shield. I always pictured Lan in darker outfit but I can't remember if he actually has that or not in the books (it's been a while since the last time I read them). I think I would have used a katana instead of the crome sword for Rand, it seems a bit clumsy, but I really like the torso you used for him. I'm eagerly waiting for more characters to come, especially Egwene and Elayne, and maybe some of the Forsaken? Hm, maybe I make some myself too Quote

I used the chrome sword because it looks a bit like crystal because the chrome has chipped off the blade. I'm not sure about the color of Lan's clothes, but i don't remember anything about him wearing dark clothes. Quote

Aah, it was supposed to be Callandor, now I see Then it's perfect I was thinking of the heron sword he got from his father. Quote
Duke Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Great to see these posted, I think Mat is perfect with the hat and cheeky grin. Maybe a staff would fit well with him though? The Aiel are great too with the varied use of neckties, hoods and ninja masks. Quote
Sandy Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Wow, nice job! These figs really look their counterparts! I was a bit surprised to see Aviendha instead of Egwene or Elayne there, though... but I guess you don't have blonde hair parts? I think I remember the girls dying their hair several times to hide their identities, anyway. I agree that Lan should probably wear darker clothes, and putting Moiraine in red is a bit of a misstep, since she's from the blue Ajah, and the reds are like her nemesis. Also, Rand would probably look better with the orange Agent hair rather than Ron's bowlcut. I have to add to the sword discussion, that in my opinion the chrome gold sword would look like Callandor the most. Quote

I couldn't make them because i don't have the right hair pieces, but i don't have enough different dresses for them either. I used all the different types i have for these figures. Sandy Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I couldn't make them because i don't have the right hair pieces, but i don't have enough different dresses for them either. I used all the different types i have for these figures. They don't really have to wear dresses, in my opinion. At least not printed ones. But yeah, I know that historical female torsos aren't that plentiful in LEGO... I just happen to have most of them. The Harry Potter sets are an excellent source for them, by the way. That doesn't mean she can't wear red clothes I know, but given the choice, why would she? Anyway, the dress suits her character just fine aside from the colors. The white and blue dress of the old Castle princess would work perfectly, though. I unfortunately don't have that hair piece, but i agree that would look better. I disagree about the sword though, Callandor looks like it's made out of crystal, not gold Well, I only have the book covers as a reference, but in all the pictures I've seen of the sword, it's always been flaming gold. Like in this: But you of course do as you see best! And please do more! Quote
Duke Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 If i'd have made the sword i'd probably have used that lightning bolt piece since thats more how I imagine it, so it's each to his (or her!) own i think! Quote
