Guss Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) Hello Hello, some times ago, in December, I went to Paris for a little Lego exhibition ( very very little) in a "toy super market" ( Like Toys R us, but different) , when we finished, the owner gave us some lego he didn't sold , and sold us some other at very low price! when I was coming back to Geneva, in the TGV ( the French High Speed train ) , I was bored, so I did a review of the sets I bought! I even forced some people I didn't even know to build some, they enjoyed it^^ ( poor them, I feel sorry ... or not ! ^^) so here is the "TGV" review of the set : 8770, Danju : Reference: 8770 theme: Knight Kingdom Name: Danju Year : 2004 Pieces :42 Minifig : 0^^ Here is the box, front, and back : I hate trains! it moves ! here is the reason why I got it for free : let's open this box! no bag, only pieces, a little manual and a little display ! the manual that just kept closing because it spend to many years in this box (my GF's finger in bonus! ) the construction is basic, easy, there is nothing hard to do ! picture of the complete set , the shield is made with cardboard, and it just keep falling because only a 2x2 round "parabola" attach it. : EEEk ! let's photography it again once at home ^^ with it minifig version ! here you can see what keep the shield on the arm, a very "unstable" part! a "face" picture ( with strange colours ) Note : 4/10 .. for it "originality" Conclusion : I didn't like this set, happily I got it for free! the shield just keep falling and it "general aspect" is not very nice ... but I have to admit there is some interesting parts ! I don't know how to use these parts, but that's interesting ! I'll post other "review from a TGV" soon ^^ I hope you liked my review! Edited March 25, 2009 by WhiteFang Indexed Quote
k_peek_2000 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Awesome review! That first picture is just absolutely brilliant. It's what lego is all about :p *tear* Quote
Spyder Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I would get it for the purple pieces. Lucky you got it for free! Good review! Quote
Zorro Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 Good review; but I don't really like the theme, still: well done! Quote
prateek Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 i dont understand why people dont like KK, i loved that theme! this set is outstanding eventhough the shield falls off if your not careful Quote
Zzz Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 the first picture is priceless, really! It was rather unusual to see it on EB, and it put in one picture what Lego is all about. Even if it was a broken box from an unloved theme, this is what it's all about! Touch it - love it. And I guess your statement about trains just made my day: "I hate trains! it moves !" (the funny thing is not the wrong grammar, don't worry! More the nihilistic viewpoint!) thanks a lot - Zzz out! Quote
Guss Posted March 23, 2009 Author Posted March 23, 2009 (edited) thank k_peek_2000 ^^ they really enjoyed it as it was a boring trip, they thanked me to give them something to do when they went out of the train ^^ thanks Zorro^^ I liked the theme, but not the "big fig" thanks spyder, yep I was lucky, and I already used some of the parts in other sets^^ Prateek, I had some set with Minifigs from KK during this trip ( the two guys are building one^^) , I think they're nice! but the "big fig" are just ugly ! It really looks like " futuristic warrior" with ancient weapon, I don't like it :/ thanks a lot Zzz, I also love this pic^^ and sorry for my grammar, as I'm not english I make a lot of mistakes ^^ and this train just kept moving while I was trying to take pictures, It was so boring! ^^ Edited March 23, 2009 by Guss Quote
Natman8000 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 An ace review of a set and theme I hate. What were they thinking? Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 (edited) I got Vladek a year ago, and I love it, you get some nice PRINTED pieces, nice sword (useful for Bionicle). And you think body is unuseful? Just look what I made, a wacky demon: Yup its just a body + Dinosaur Legs and arms xD His name is Garlik :P Run away! Edited March 24, 2009 by Lordofdragonss Quote
soc399 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Wow! That's a great demon. I never thought these sets were worth getting, but they seem to have some interesting parts. Congratulations on scoring one for free, Guss, and thanks for the TGV review. I wish someone would have asked me to build a set the last time I rode the train, even if the movement is annoying. Quote
Whittleberry Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I love that first picture too, and it was a nice review! Well done on scoring all that free/cheap LEGO. And I guess your statement about trains just made my day: "I hate trains! it moves !" (the funny thing is not the wrong grammar, don't worry! More the nihilistic viewpoint!) Yes, but if you've been on lots of European trains, you'll know that they're really smooth. When I was in Germany in January on a school trip we made a giant Pringle-can tower on a table in one of the ICE trains, and it didn't fall down! Quote
Guss Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 Lordofdragonss , I didn't say the body was useless^^ as I said : there is some interesting parts the body is one of these^^ you did a great use of it, your demon is cool ! Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 (edited) Thanks, I forgot to say that you review was very nice, and I love "Danju with little Danju" photo xD Edited March 25, 2009 by Lordofdragonss Quote
Nikau Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Argh, that purple is horrible. It's like that M**a B***s robot thing my Grandparents bought one year instead of Lego. It still contaminates some of my lego boxes. Quote
The Cobra Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I like KK and KKII, but I rate this set 1 out of 5. Quote
