(Pointing at Mr. Crawford indiscreetly whispering to a nearby person) He's mad, you know?

*whispers back*

Yes, he is. Maybe we should jump him, instead?

*out loud* So, Mr. Crawford...maybe you should sit down. How much of that whiskey did you have?
True happiness: looking inside the box to see a perfectly flat instruction manual.

Not nearly enough to fall for a lame trick like that, Professorypants! YOU! YEAH! YOU KIDS! GET OFF MY LAWN!

What was I saying? Oh, yes, that looks like a comfy sofa.
Don't fall for it, Petey!
AAAAAH! The talking birds again!
Look, we can talk, get over it already.
You know, that makes a certain amount of sense. Can you really talk, or is it this fine whiskey?
We can really talk.
That's amazing... say, do you know anything about this whole mystery?
That would be cheating, you sly devil!
I'll give you a cracker.
Do you honestly think you can bribe us with a cracker?
I'll take it. What do you want to know?
Excellent! Come right over here and tell me everything.
Hmmm... I wonder if he has more crackers.

The birds proceed to tell everything they know, but only to me. HA!

Crazy parrots with different colors of shade in their looney talk. How unique can this mansion be.

Just as John is about to try and knock Peter over the head, Dragonator comes back through the door, and everyone turns to look.

Thanks for waiting, that call was longer than I expected. Luckily there were no problems, although I understand one of the design crew had to take a three day break to go on a 71km tramp or something of the like... Anyway, let us resume the investigation, shall we? I'm glad to see you have all gotten on so well without me and... ah. Yes. :look:

The EB detectives get back to the investigation after their very emotional and in-depth bonding period.

Huh? What was that about a tramp? Oh, it's only you again. Say, these lads were telling me the most delightfully interesting stories about some Aluvar fellow and all sorts of rot and nonsense that made it sound like you're hundreds of years old or something. I think they've been nipping at the same stuff as our good Dr. Phil, but they are rather convincing. Tell him, Bluervo.

Bluervo? :look:

Pinky! Come right out here, no playing games!

I... hmpf. Well, they were here a minute ago, I'm sure someone else saw them... Anyone?

So, how about we get back to the business at hand then, enough chit chat!

Uh... why don't we head on up to that door above the stairs and see where it leads us? If it's locked, I've got a key to try!

I'd like to look around the room for any significant four-letter words written on anything, counting the furniture, the disks and the surfaces. Care to help me, guys?

Yes, let's look around for some 4 letter words. Perhaps that will be the password.

Anyone got a paper and a pen - perhaps it would be wise to write down what we know. Unfortunately, I'm never prepared for class, so I don't have a notebook or any writing utensils on me...

No, no you're not, student. Maybe it'd raise your grade if you did. Write that down- it's a tip.

Sounds good. Let's take it bit by bit.

The first thing we know is that Chester ordered the staff to prepare and serve dinner by a set time and then leave, we have that documented in his note. From the look of the dining room, that occurred.

Peter climbs up the stairs to the door at the top sand pushes. It is unfortunately locked. Your chunky black key does not fit...

Meanwhile, Miss Sandy suggests that they look around for a four letter word somewhere in the room.

Hmmm, so where do you want to look then? asks Dragonator.

My drunkenness, having lost it's pleasant edge, leads me to try to kick the m$#%&$ f#%#$#' door down. I suspect I've just fallen down the stairs and provided the room with a full list of potential four letter words for the safe combination. :sceptic:

I sincerely expect we'll find something like that on a piece of paper, as opposed to it being an actual item that is meant to remind the owner of the combination. Perhaps there is a piece of paper in one of the record sleeves or somewhere amongst the albums?

Peter, after his rather unfortunate confrontation with the door, decides to look through the records for any sign of a slip of paper, or for that matter any other foreign objects. His search proves fruitless however; all that is there is the records and their cases. Probably worth a fair bit now too.

Well, if you would like to continue looking at things then please do so, otherwise perhaps we should consider moving on, if you are finished here? We can either go back through the south doors to the hallway and move on from there, or else try the doors on either the west or east walls.

East for me! We've been told that there is something of interest to the east, and this might be the way to get to it! Plus, I think I smell booze off in that direction, though I'm not sure how...  :look:

You sure that's him?
Yeah, Aluvar said so. Let's just keep watching him and see what happens.
Ok. At least he doesn't have that stupid sidekick this generation.
Stutter! :hmpf:
Close enough. :hmpf_bad:

I already explained that I wanted to see if there are any four-letter words written or engraved in any of the furniture or surfaces, or maybe one of the records have a significant word in it.

But if there's nothing to be found, I agree that we should head east, too.

Miss Sandy takes another look at the records, but no major four letter words stand out. Of course, there are a few in there, but you can't determine whether any are important or not.

A quick glance at the furniture from where you are standing does not reveal any engravings or written words (if you want to look closer at something you will need to specify please  ).

Well, if we're going to stand around for a few more minutes, I'll check the paintings for name plates or artists signatures that might fit the bill.

Peter takes a look at the pictures for any clues as to the password. You cannot see any way to differentiate any of the names from any of the others. If one of them is the password, you cannot tell. It seems unlikely that one of these would be the password.

It is agreed by those paying attention that the detectives will make their way through the east doors, as they seem to think there is something important there. Walking over, Peter throws open the doors, and the group moves through into the Library...

Are they any closer to solving the mystery? And where is the body of Lord Chester, if there even is one? What exactly happened last night? Your guess is as good as mine, but it sure makes for good reading, right?

End of Chapter Two

We will now take a short break. Chapter three will commence on January the 2nd, 2009. Until then, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Enjoy the holiday season, and I'll see you all in the new year. :classic: I hope by then you are all eager and ready for some more mystery action!
