He means it won't be available at stores, you can't pick it up in a toy shop. You must order from the internet, it's a S@H exclusive.

Also I think the the brick built birds look so tacky. Why couldn't they have just molded some new animals that could have been used for years and years to come.

Also I wish that the females torsos could be easily converted to flesh. Looks like I will have to bust out a paintbrush.

Because it's very expensive to make new molds.

Very good idea!  Just separate the 2 "themes" with a green baseplate (or 2), and some trees!

If i can throw that in, but the first thing i thought on when i saw that new queen fig  was some kind of "monarchy" theme, i don't know the word for it, but i mean the time around and before 1900. Wouldn't that be great?

I must be the only one that digs the blocky birds.  I think they are great.  As a plus you have parts for something else too.

If this set's price increases, I will not buy this set. I was already going to buy the 10188 Death Star and maybe this, but if the price increases, this set can say bye bye..

Nope, not the only one.
Everyone I ask is simply overwhelmed by the creativity TLC put into brick-built-birds. And I have to confess, I really like them, too! Wouldn´t make as much fun to have molded birds - well, chicken, that is.

While comparing the brick built horses from the early 80ies with the molded horses I see it makes sense with animals that are a bit bigger. I wouldn´t want to have brick built cows for sure

I like the brick built birds as well! It allows for more creativity in making even more birds.

Also, the wink smiley usually means explaining something or pointing out something not previously mentioned; it's this one that usually means a joke or a sarcastic remark:

Well a molded duck, chicken, and rooster would have jacked up the price more/cost us something else. Not to mention that there are so many more uses for the parts you get in the duck than for a molded bird.

Personnally I would have preferred a molded duck chicken and rooster. Chickens could have been used for the new upcoming farm sets in the town.

Oh, the amount of moaning about "juniorizing" and "kiddifying" the birds that would've gotten! And I agree with everybody else about the greatness of the brick-built poultry - this is LEGO we're talking about, not Playmobil!

The whole point of LEGO is that you can use the same pieces to build entirely different things. The Lego Group lost that thought momentarily in the past decade or so, but we have to be thankful they realized it again.

On the other hand, I admit that brick-built cows would've looked silly next to the horse.

As long as the MMV will be sold at this price, I will probably buy one, one thing I would like to see added was the tax inspector.
The soldiers that are already there can become his escort.
The tax inspector used to go to the market, sit down at his own stand with a small treasure box and a couple of guards, and then the vassals, peasants and others would come by and pay them one tenth of their income. Weather that would be in chickens, eggs or porkheads, the taxinspector didn't care...

I really want this set, but I thought of something today while driving in the car, looking at all the fall foliage. It would be awesome if Lego gave us some fall colored tree pieces, like the ones in this set. They could use colors like dark orange and dark red. I am hoping for some in the future...

I completely agree with you, Sandy. To me, brick built animals (excluding horses and the obvious) are a step forward.

I was reading a thread about this idea last week: http://www.classic-c...pic.php?t=12156
I would love to see different colored foliage, too. Hopefully this becomes a reality sooner than later.

I guess this could be a sensative issue, particularly when we've got pre-fab cats, dogs, rats, spiders, bats, ants, etc.; along with our new pre-fab cows and of course the horses.  I can understand the disappointment felt by some fans about the brick-built poultry given LEGO's tendancy to create a mold for about every other critter under the sun.  I like the brick built animals however I can see where some fans might take issue with them.

The S@H exclusives have always been carried in the Brand Stores from what I know. Stash, correct me if I'm wrong please. The significance is...I don't know. An exclusive set being carried in a brand store. That's the extent of the significance I assume. I don't think we should frontpage it or alert the authorities...
