if you look at the sides of the boxes you can see a number it goes like this -- Mech thing = 2-small bulldozer =3 -the truck with the claws = 4 -the big drill=5 and the main vehicle =6 .... so it goes alot like the agents sets but i cant find the box with 1 on it  im guessing its the top box

recently i noticed that the drills on set five and six turn when you push the vehicle forward this is alot like the jungle cutter except these are to high of the ground to use that same system so these are using a series of gears . also their might be a way that the crystals the main set picks up go inside the vehicle (im guessing this because i seen a bucket inside)

Thanks for these new pics.  I'm still pretty unimpressed with the line as a whole, but for TLG's sake, I hope it will sell well with it's target audience.  It is likely though that I will pick up 8968 and 8965, if only for the intersting minifigs, new colored crystals (I only have clear, chrome and pink trans right now) dynamite, treads, roll cage, and other parts.  I'm not real excited by the trans colored monsters, but it's always good to have a few monsters of varying types for castle MOCs.

All that said, if those searchlights turn out to be functioning lights, I might have to purchase more of this line.

I may just buy the first three pictured on the front page (8956, 7957 and 8958). The blue helmets are very cool, and so are the crystals. A wide variety of rare parts doesn't hurt, either. I like how each set (besides the biggest one) has a different color rock creature and matching crystal (red, blue, green, neon-green, and orange). I can't wait to see that trans-orange crystal! :sweet:

Liking the new pictures. The bike thing really is a bit rubbish, but I suppose it's a cheap way to get a monster and a miner. The other sets are a mixxed bag. I still love the Thunder Drill, and the small drilling thing is pretty neat. The bike, like I said, is a cheap parts pack and the 'digging arms' vehicle is also quite cool. Not as fussed on the platform or the mech, although I will admit that the mech has grown on me since we first saw pictures. There are some interesting new minifig faces in there though...

The first three smaller ones are the worst ones in my opinion...

I really like the color scheme more and more, persoally i think orange and lme green are made to be together, and i also like the glimpses of blue on the minifigs. So far, i'd say my favorites are 8958, 8960 and 8961. Don't like the design of the others too much, but these three i'll get pretty sure.

I was initially totally against this line, but now I'm planning to buy multiples! Of course mostly I'll just be buying them for the crystal monsters (and because I could always use more orange and lime.) 8960 looks really awesome though and may actually stay together for a while. I can't wait to amass an army of those crystal monsters and build them a cavern where they take their revenge on the evil miners. Mwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!

I also like the face on the guy in the mecha - looks like he's wearing a monocle.  *huh*

Okay, I've calmed down a bit and decided I actually like these. Are they perfect? No. Are they still good? Yes, I'm even considering that Driller set. The smallest one is a definite purchase especially given that it includes a fig and monster, and I'll probably get a larger one too. Still sad there's no red, but I'll get over it.

I am liking these and look forward to a few of the new parts.  I just bought a bouch of lime green parts at the lego store and look forward to modding these sets.

Buy looking at those pics I though I looked like that they could have alight up function but I can't see that anywhere on the box art so now I think that is unlikely. However they are lit up on the box art but that is probably just some thing awesome that lego decided to include.

Ah! So now I know all the colours of the monsters.
I was debating whether the one in the medium set was light green or yellow, but it must just be yellow.
I don't think anyone in the Uk has their Club Magazine yet!

Loving the punning names. But then I would, wouldn't I?

I'm also wondering if the scientist being called Brains is perhaps a not-so-subtle reference to Brains of Thunderbirds, especially as the Thunder Drill can be classed as a homage (of sorts) to the Mole from the same series...

Thanks for the news, Skipper! Apparently the "neon green" monster is actually yellow. However, the names on these are really kind of dumb. Okay, Firox and Glaiciator are okay, but what's the point of having another "Firox" called Meltrox? And "Sulfurix" and Boulderax"... c'mon, Lego...

I just had the pleasure of test-building one of the smaller sets, 8958 with Glaciator.
http://brickset.com/...aspx?Set=8958-1
I was surprised about the neat functionality of this smal set (hint: small white rubberband), and Glaciator looks mighty cool with the "stone" look.
Also, after building the Exo-Force set 7706.....
http://brickset.com/...aspx?Set=7706-1
with rather poor ability to turn the threads, I'm glad to see this little power miners set run quite well over most surfaces without putting much pressure down on the vehicle.

Cool, how did you get to the opportunity to build it? I'm really starting looking forward to this theme and can see it having very much sussess.

As a Lego employee. But I can't really describe more about the set other than what I did.
I really don't know much about the sets in this new line anyway, but it was fun building the 8958 and driving it over the table.

While I'm still not in love with this line, it's certainly growing on me.

The sets don't seem to have quite as much tecnic as I feared, and the minifigs, rock monsters and dynamite are actually looking lovely. I'm seeing a lot of new faces on the figs.

This really reminds me of when I first saw Agents pics. I originally hated the way they looked, but then gradually started liking them more and more.

I'm guessing the front piece (chisel or something) moves forward and the rubberband pulls the piece back so it moves while you push the vehicle forward.
Haven't thought of one yet.

I'm actually quite a fan of the new retro color scheme  , i think its a cool change, in fact , i'm tempted to get the whole range for once, i confess, apart from Bionicle , thats a first.

Seriously, they are not that bad, better then Mars Mission any how.
