I think the questions are mis-leading ... the answer is clearly "yes" and "yes" ... afterall, how could I pass on a chance to get a load of figures for not a lot of money ... but I know that it will never happen for the various reasons already stated, so in reality, answering "yes" will make no difference at all!

Well DUH! If this was a petition in the Embassy, it'd go sky-high. But since it's here we can have speculatory discussion. There's no need to pull a drive-by, shooting people's positive opinion down.

Well i voted Yes and yes, but only if it is based on the new clonewars film/tv show. Think of all those battle driods, clones as the pawns and jedi and sith and other badies. The queens would be padme and Asajj Ventress. So who would not want that chess set then!!!! *wub*

I wouldn't care if the figures were old but troopers from any army.
I would not like a chess set with only main figures - just look at the EP I chess with EIGHT R2D2s as paws. Who hasn't got at a R2D2 by now?!

Besides, I somehow can't bring myself to like Vader beeing mentioned as a *queen*  *tongue*  *tongue*   *tongue*  *tongue*  *tongue*

Ep.2 troopers=pawns        
Ep.2 scout troopers=rooks
Ep.2 shock troopers=bishops
Ep.2 Arc troopers=knights
Ep.2 Yoda=King
Ep.2 Padme=Queen

Geonosian BD=pawns
Geonosians=Rooks
Blue Super BDs=Bishop

I answered yes to both questions. Great way to get minifigs (clones/stormtroopers as pawns).

So, of course I voted Yes to both. Because even though it'd be cool, LEGO will never produce Star Wars chess, and I'll never get boinkage with Jessica Alba

I wouldn't sleep with Jessica Alba, (therefore I wouldn't PAY to sleep with her) because I have a special girl right now. So, no, I find that question to be quite different.

I hope Siegfried is our new main mod; I like his style.  The best and most helpful comments are usually negative ones...we don't have many of those around here.

(I'm sure this has already been said, but....)

I would definitely buy an OT Star Wars Chess set, but probably not a prequel set.

It would also depend on the quality of the chess set - I'm not going to buy C-3PO pawns, or just re-releases of existing figs, but I would love to see a higher end chess set ($250ish) with actual bases, and maybe even some new figs...?

THey have made a few chess sets already, I don't see why they wouldn't make one if the license agreement allows it.
