I posted this earlier, but it seems to have been lost from the archive.

I was thinking the torso of the Judge in Collectible Minifigures Series 9 might look good on a pirate captain. It also comes with a wig, although I think the one from S10 Revolutionary Soldier might be better.

Also the Gypsy has hair with bandanna and torso with corset that might look good on a pirate girl.

Also there is of course the new mermaid, if your Pirate theme happens to be supernaturally inclined.

Test Shot

I liked the look of the series 8 conquistador and so far have eleven of them. When the latest Sun newspaper giveaway in October included the LOTR Uruk Hai, i thought that they would make for an easy custom. New heads, helms and white plumes and now I have twelve, gray armour conquistadors ready for a face off.

The customising I had to do was repaint the black helms. For this test run I used Games Workshop gunmetal (now called leadbelcher in the new range). It is a little lighter then the breastplate though. What do you think? Should I leave it as is, or add a little black to make it match the original. Or is the original too dark and I should repaint that to match the hemit.

So; leave as is, repaint the breastplate, or darken the helm??

I think you should keep as is, and repaint the breastplate. I love the idea, I would have never thought if doing this. Good work.

I agree. It will be a lot more work but I'm going to paint the beastplate as well. It will lighten up the figure as well as ensure that the colours match. Each base Uruk Hai cost me 50p, and I bought twelve Sun newspapers costing £6 in total. I had to order the hats, and feather and luckily I think I already have enough weapons to go round. All told, they come in at just under £2 per figure (what with P&P and everything).
