Hi, my question is "the 6968 wookiee attack is an official set or only an apart set not truly needed to complete a collection?

It's not a real set according to the archives of various sites I have tried, according to the number you've given.

Then again i'm not entirely sure what you're asking..

IIRC, it was a prototype that never made in into mass production.

But, Lego went as far as to make instructions for it.

They did release the instructions on there website and they can be found on Brickshelf.

Here is Brickshelf link, http://www.brickshel...6968&stype=dfic
