HI Legolings!

This is my First Major Building MOC. Presenting the CITY Hospital. :-$

I have taken apart the entire 7892 Hospital Set and built a new one with Bigger rooms and an actual functioning Hospital. The original one was too small, illogical and short to say; Cheap. I feel that TLG Rushed to release the hospital set that year.

So I have taken my own initiative to build a better one. It is built entirely on a Curved-Road Baseplate. I can say 50% of the parts are from the Original Hospital Set.

Take a look and leave constructive comments. ;)

Top-Left corner: The Patient Wards.
Top-Right Corner: Doc/Nurse's Workstation
Bottom-Left: Waiting Room
Bottom-Right: Cashier/Prescription & Medicine Rooms
There are actually 3 Patient beds altogether. Can't see much from here, due to the pillar. :-/

Top Left: Emergency Room / Operating Room
Bottom: Ambulance Parking

As you can see from the above pics, I have re-used the ambulance Ramp from the original set to make the bridge from the helipad to the emergency room.

The Helipad was meant for the 7903 Rescue Heli but the heli proved too big and bulky for this helipad. :'(

And a 3D view of the model! X-D

yeah its a bit pricey due to the baseplate. I kind of regretted buying the hosp set, but this MOC makes me take away the guilt. heh. *wub* thanks for the comments! :-$

Very well done Azmean *y* ! I especially *wub* the helipad concept. The way you created the pad to sit above the street so that vehicles could pass beneath the walkway/pad. VERY COOOOL!! I definitly would like to add such a concept to my hospital (as soon as I build it). GREAT JOB!! as well on the building itself.

Model On!!

Nice MOC *y*

The heli pad is more realistic (or at least MFs don't risk to fall down too easily for lack of manuvering space :-P ) and the big red cross reminds me of the old hospital sets from the '80s *wub*

Oh, wow. X-O It's so much nicer than the official version. It seems much more like a real hospital. I would love to see it expanded on, a few more floor, maybe a bit wider, but I would definitely buy this version over the official version. I especially like the layout-how the ambulance has an access drive that isn't up a 45 degree slope :-D . Also love how it goes under the helipad and both areas access the main emergency facilities. Well thought out and functional. Thanks for sharing it with us! X-D

Actually, the helipad was the first to be built in this MOC. I bought the parts for to make a helipad for the Firestation actually but eventually, I made it for the hospital.

It was kind of a headache putting the helipad together. Since I didn't have much experience MOCing buildings, one prob would lead to another. I almost gave up on the helipad actually.

Thanks for the kind words! :-$

Yeah the original one was really sucky! It looks more like a "put-a-plate-there-and-call-it-a-helipad" kind of thing. No creativity at all. And then you expect the poor minifig doc to pull the casualty across the narrow plank, up the stairs to the emergency room.

All i can say, is that the Original Hospital is the poorest design ever made by TLG.

Expand?? heh.. I think it looks ok as it is.. but yeah.. i have thot of adding another floor and making it into a cafeteria or something. and also maybe add some stairs at the end of the building. Thanks for the suggestions.. will think abt expanding it when i have the capital to do so. hehe.. X-D

Oh yeah.. the 45 degree slope. I hated that design too. It was more of a garage than a patient drop-off point, if you ask me.

No prob.. Lego ideas are meant to be shared! :-D

A very good Hospital, nice in size and proportion with an impressive solution for
that helipad and a very neat interior. Very well done! *y*

Uh-oh, maybe I watched your spinning picture a bit too long.... do you take an
Austrian health insurance card? :-X :-D

Very nice hospital!

It reminds me of one of the hospitals in Amsterdam, with the underpass and the helicopter above.

Man, this is everything the official Hospital WASNT. Not that it wasn't okay, but your MOC is so much better. ;-)

BTW, for anyone who wants to mod the official hosptial, a good start would be to place the buildings and ramp on an actual green baseplate. From what I see, it wouldn't be hard at all, and all you'd really have to get rid of is the stairs (which are unrealistic anyway :-P ).
I'm back, but I'll be posting much less than before my temporary break from Eurobricks.

I have to agree with you, dats why I MOC it in the first place. ;-) Yeah, the raised baseplate is a turn-off, what more than to put it for a hospital. The Police station is fine.. but for a building that probably needs wheelchair access to all levels.. its just mind-boggling! *wacko*

Thanks for the comments!~ X-D

I really liked 7892 except for the raised baseplate and semi-Junior-ish vehicle. If they had put it down level on a baseplate and included the Ambulance set, it would have been much better.

But good work- try and fit this in with some other buildings. Maybe think taller, too. Just add another floor on. For such a small footprint, it'll have more impact looking more vertical.

The thing about the Official Hospital set is that it doesnt look like it belongs in a big City, like Lego prolly intended. I see it being VERY,very, rural. Its just to small. Your MOC is perfect and would be the hospital sets equivalant of the new firestation. *y*
