[MOC] Stranded whale

Recommended Posts

Last weekend was my Norwegian LUG's annual event, På Kloss Hold. This year we held a contest where we each built a 16x16 section of a beach (within some standard parameters). I chose to build a (tiny) stranded whale for my beach. Here's the result!

Will Lisa Simpson offer no assistance?! Nice little scene - very cute whale, love the shape of the mouth and "snout" (what exactly do whales have?).

Best whale I've seen at that scale. :sweet: Great little scene!

Sounds like a cool contest. Do you have any shots of the other entries (or all of them assembled together)?

Go watch this Simpsons episode before complaining :tongue:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Squirt_and_the_Whale

And I'm no expert in whale anatomy :look: But thank you, I'm quite happy with the shaping of it :sweet:

What a lovely diorama! I love the whale, its use of SNOT and such.

Thank you :sweet:

Thanks! :sweet:

Eduard has posted a series of photos of them all put together here: 104

Nice work. Is it a BeLUGa whale? Would a 1x2 or 2x2 jumper work for a blow hole?

Thanks guys :sweet:

Sure, let's say that

I tried with a jumper for a blow hole, but I didn't like the look. The blow hole shouldn't stick out like a stud does, so I chose to just leave it out for a more clean look.

A really like that diorama! It's a nice choice to recreate that Simpsons moment.

The tail may be a little too large. Have you tried it with 2x3 wedges?

And I'm no expert in whale anatomy :look:

I'm so disappointed... To think I was believing in you...

Awesome! I like how you made the whale. The inclusion of Lisa is very nice, too :classic:
