damn! there isn't any TRU in Belgium either... (at least not that I'm aware of...)

Hey Mutley,
First thanks for the link of the part inventory  ;-)
Secondly, I was wondering if you tried building that speeder just like the 4500 speeder to get rid of the stupid gap ??
It should be more than possible since it doesn't look that it was modified too much. What do you think ??

I know how you feel. My TRU never has anything.Sometimes it doesn't even get exclusives let alone regular starwars sets. Only exclusive they had their was the Imperial Inspection and they were gone before I could buy one. :'-(

Nice review, thanks for taking the time.

The set is better than I first thought but still falls short of expectations.
So much LEGO, so little time...

Ok, here we have some pictures of the new snowspeeder and the 2 old versions.

With these to pictures you can see how bad the new engine block really is :-/

The to remove the horrible gap you really nead a complete re-build of the back part of the engine. This is because there is a technic axel running right through it to hold the rear nosel and the support stand in place.
Doing this would give you the space to put the 2X3 slopes back in that it really needs though. :-) All in all i still prefer the 7130 original model as it might not have the front right but it is still the only one that has the right kind of angle for the main wings.

Thanks for the pics, Mutley :-)
I really do prefer the older versions myself...
I agree, the engine block is ugly with the new version and the new version doesn't have any orange... Isn't it supposed to? *wacko*
But anyway, it still won't stop me from buying this set X-D

If you look at this plan view you can see just how wrong the wings are on both 4500 and the hoth base speeder.

The custom (not mine) shows one  of the best snow speeders i have seen. You will notice it is closer to the first snow speeder than the newer ones.

Off course it will Axle  ;-)  Its the exact same set.
Exclusive sets are always available through SAH, don't worry  ;-)
The more exclusive you can have is a set ONLY on SAH !!
Exclusives are usually for Targets and TRU
If you don't have a huge retail store like that, you can always buy it through SAH, so no probs whatsoever Darth Guinnea Pig  :-D

True but I kind of like the new versions  ;-)
That custom is nice but suffers from a lot of flaws too !! I guess its doable to make a great looking one but since I have 4x 4500 and am planning to build 4x from the HB, I don't want to mod 8 ships  :-P

BTW, did you try and build that one from the instructions of the 4500 ??

Are you wanting to make the hoth speeders identical to the 4500? if so, is it a part list you are after of the bits missing from the hoth set to make this possible?

Was just wondering if you tried that to get rid of that gap and if it was really easy to do so (bear in mind I have to mod 4  :-D ).
Maybe not identical since the rear is different (mor or less) but similar yes  ;-)

I built this set tonight and I REALLY like it ... pretty good value for money considering all of the elements and the minifigs :D  The crane thing is a bit random and that gap on the snow speeder is a little annoying (nice mod above mind you, although I just leave bought sets as they are usually).

I do very much dislike the stickers, but hey, that's how Lego is going these days so, so be it ...

The set looks pretty awesome on the shelf underneath the original b-wing and my AT-AT crushing the original snowspeeder scene mind you :)

Surprisingly I have more to say
I love the new snowspeeder  *wub*  *wub*  *y*
It may not be the most accurate but is my personal favorite
I hate the orange color pattern on the two older versions :-X
The new one is perfect and awesome
The crane thingy is a nice add on but needs a rebel mechanic to go with it!!
8 figs is an even number 7 is just odd
The gate/front entrance is better than I expected I'm loving the use of snowy/icy BURPs there
The ion cannon is very cool and I love the playability feature they added
As for the main control room it is ugly and pathetic, add on's  would have been way better
Oh well, you can't have everything
This set will include my first snow troopers!!!

Can't wait to order this one form LSAH
