Chorduroy Posted February 24, 2015 Hi everyone, Our LUG just had a show in Saskatoon SK and our building challenge was to create a copy of a Hot Wheels car in Lego. I chose this Mustang because I thought the lines would be fairly easy to recreate. Vehicle building is not my specialty, so this was a stretch for me, but also pretty fun. I'm happy with the front grille and rear taillights, but couldn't figure out a way to make the rear windshield slope look correct. The public voted for their favourite, and I lost by a landslide to Grave Digger (which was wickedly well done by a fellow member and can be seen here: https://flic.kr/p/rhM5zw). No surprise! Bornin1980something Posted February 24, 2015 Amazing recreation, closer to source material than the winner, IMO. By the way, why was this thread moved?
SirBlake Posted February 25, 2015 It's nice that you matched the colors. Looks like it needs some headlights though. :-)
Chorduroy Posted February 25, 2015 It's nice that you matched the colors. Looks like it needs some headlights though. :-) Well, on the original model the headlights were just yellow, so I stuck with that - I agree it would have looked better as a model with actual headlights tho ... haha! SirBlake Posted February 25, 2015 Oh, I see. Sticking as close to the model as possible. Makes sense!
eurotrash Posted February 27, 2015 Amazing recreation, closer to source material than the winner, IMO. By the way, why was this thread moved? I'm guessing the thread was moved because of the scale of the MOC - it's bigger than minifig and so belongs in Special theme. I like the MOC - you've managed to capture the features of the original well.
