Captain Becker Posted July 23, 2011 Hello folks, i have just somewhat finished my newest Frigate in LDD. She carries twenty guns, 16 24 pounder guns on a gundeck, and four 12 punder medium on the poopdeck. The rudder is working, and its possible even to get in the Captains Cabin. Her crew is total of 13. Im still working on the masts, but can seem to get it right, if you have any good ideas how to make then please tell. Also if you have anything wich youd like to add or change, please tell. I have named Her USS Reputation. The ship herself: Angle shot: Ships Bow, whit the capstan: Stern. (Tell me should i change the colden parts into black ones): Poopdeck: Removable roof to get acces to the Captains Cabin: On the left side of the cabin theres Captaind Desk and a Globe: And on the right is the Captains bed, and you can also see long couch whit lanters on the wall: Its easy to get aboard of the ship and thers ladders on the both sides of the ship to get abourd easily. The crew: From left to right: Captain, Vice admiral, three Midship mens, two Marines one wit the trumpet, Helm men, Sailor whit a sword and Cat of nine tales, Ships cook and doctor whit a knife and frypann, Sailor whit sword and pistol, Cabin boy whit a pistol and grappling hook. Sneak peak to my next ship: Comments and Constructive critism are very welcome. Captain Becker
Mr Misty Posted July 24, 2011 I like it. Her side profile is nice and the round roof on the captain's cabin is very unique. The color scheme is classic, I love the yellow cannons and that swinging gate must make it easy to load and unload provisions and the crew, the Captain's cabin has a real classy feel to it with that dark red couch and gold candle holders. Also I like the gold at the stern, it would be a little plain if you changed it to black, plus it balances with the gold on the bow. As for the masts I think the problem may be that the 3rd mast is a little short, or it could be that the 1st mast is a little too tall. That's how it appears to me anyway. Great job. I can't wait to see your next ship, looks like she's going to be a real beast
Captain Blackmoor Posted July 24, 2011 That looks like a decent vessel to me! Very detailed too, I really like the idea for the headrails. Very creative! Now you just need to add a lantern.
Captain Becker Posted July 25, 2011 Im glad to hear you two liked it. And yes, i have added the lanters on the sern and on the Poopdeck also, did forgot to add them when i tooked the pictures. Im also added the catheads on the ship. If anyone would like to take a closer look, just ask LXF File. Captain Becker
Dukesc Posted July 25, 2011 Your ship looks great overall! I would either lengthen the ship or reduce the number of cannons. Reloading appears to require having to climb over the cannons. There also could be some railing and a way to stand above the cabin. Your main and mizzen mast could go back some too. Is there a clock on the steering wheel? I would have a larger crew as well so you can operate at least a full broadside and drive your ship.
Captain Becker Posted July 25, 2011 Is there a clock on the steering wheel? Yes, but actially thats supposed to present compass. I didnt want to make the most realistic lookign vessel, and tryed to keep the playbility and accessibility (If thats a word) as easy as possible, and the desing as well. And the crew is already quite big for this ship, if we think at theres not much space where to put them. I just tryed to put 10 minifigs so at one cannon has one, and two for commanding the crew and the ship. And the final is to steer the ship. But i promise you, the next ship wich will be two decker, will be a bit longer, and have larger crew. Captain Becker
Admiral Croissant Posted July 27, 2011 Good job so far But as you said, there is room for improvement. As for the masts, I think you should make them longer and move the main and mizzen mast more towards the stern. I've read many of your comments on other people's ships and it seems like you do know how to place them properly so I think it won't be a problem You could also make a small curve in the gunline and perhaps make it suit better on the prefab hulls the way CGH did it. I think gold looks great on the stern Good luck on your next ship!
