Future Hero Factory Themes

Recommended Posts

Quickly to begin, this is not an official topic for suggestions to be sent into LEGO. This is purely for brainstorming and discussing future Hero Factory themes, although I may add a poll later to see which ideas are the most popular. :classic:

Stemming from discussion in the Hero Factory 2011 topic about the themes that waves of sets are based on (so far Fire and Jungle), this topic is for posting themes that you think would make good Hero Factory waves in the future.

You can create a full synopsis, backstory and character bios if you want, but please elaborate more than just a list of single-word themes. Justifying the theme would be good as well, because magical starfish villains are unlikely to be the basis of a future Hero Factory wave unless there's a really good reason for it.

Mmmm, magical starfish...:oh:

Steampunk, although that probably won't happen.

Otherwise, I would love an underwater theme. Sure, we've had Bionicle's Mahri Nui, but precisely for that reason I would want an underwater theme for HF. Bionicle paved the way for HF, we could see some interesting use of parts from Mahri Nui over.

copied from 2011 Hero Factory Topic:

In response to Brickthing's post, I have sketched out how I think a carnival theme would work:

Main villian would be a large pink titan with a parasol/greataxe. His alt mode would be an empty merry go round with slots for the 3 smaller villians.

Henchman are merry go round steeds brought to life. There'd be a Purple dragon, a light blue fish, and a teal mermaid. They have slots both to connect to main villian and a slot for heroes to ride them. They draw off their hero core energy.

Heroes would be normal as usual, but have certain "pun" pieces like joke pieces to hold (cotton candy/popcorn) as well as masks to put over their normal faces (like a third piece to the jungle planet hero heads) that would resemble new years eve masks (like bunny and cat)

Main villian is trying to get off carnival planet, but doesn't have enough power. So sends out minions to capture heroes so that he can drain their hero cores and get off this abadandoned carnival planet.

I thought that up with little effort. I'm sure there are other themes such as this that could easily be made.

So if this is rather messy; it was hastily written.

Cowboys. I want cowboys.

The villains can be a cactus and a tumbleweed, maybe a big ol ox skull. I don't actually care. Just give me cowboys.

We need a ball snap holster. Big old hats and spurs.

I'd like to see an Ice-world wave.

Underwater and Desert were already pulled off in Bionicle, and heroes with mountain-climbing-gear would be quite neat.

For the villians, I can imagine something like a Yeti for starters.

I would not mind a carnival theme. It would kind of cool. But I'd rather have an underwater theme or ice theme. Or maybe and underground theme. It would be cool to have heroes will drills and all that kind of stuff.

Just as I said in the HF 2011 topic, I am currently working on an MOC of the steampunk variety, but it is quite challenging, since HF isn't excelling, in the cross-peg and pin department. :sceptic: Oh well, hopeful for that theme, but I just doubt it greatly. :cry_sad:

Well, the problem with the elemental set of themes is that desert and ice are a smidgeon too adscure to use next. Underwater and Underground are time tested themes that I can gaurantee Lego uses.

I wonder if in any future waves we'll see sets with alt forms, like the 2002 titans, but with an actual meaning and purpose towards the story.

A tub with peices for 1 hero and 1 villian at the same time, with extra peices for customization, would be totally sick.

We've had desert and ice themes before... Bara Magna, Ice Planet, Artic, Johnny Thunder (he did both), the new Pharaoh's Quest...

But we've had underwater and underground themes more often. Lego has shown that underwater and underground are two themes that they are willing to go into, and I am 100% percent sure we will see those themes within 1-3 years.

And besides, a carnival theme as I described is still a good idea...

I'd say a Time Travel theme would be cool, you know, could have dinosaurs, a steampunk robot-armor, high-technology villains... All within the 6 villain pack... And of course a "Chronos" for the big bad villain would be nice...

We could have an Ice-Age Stormer, a Medieval Furno, an egyptian Evo... And so forth... hehe

In truth, ice was only one of three settings for Adventurers Orient Expedition. (the others being india and china) - so you can't count it any more as an "ice theme" than World Racers, in my opinion anyway.

just nitpicking

Now, Alpha Team had a year devoted to ice. Full o' Transformers, no less

Uhm... what means "adscure"? I suppose it's a typo, because LEO doesn't know that word...

Anyway, firefighting was also something we hadn't seen in Bionicle, so it seems that LEGO also wants to try out new things.

Underwater and Underground are time tested themes that I can gaurantee Lego uses.

I wouldn't be surprised by an Underwater-wave for Hero Factory either.

And by the way, that carnival idea sounds kinda odd to me, but hey, why not? It would bring us lots of interesting pieces.

But it got outruled by the COWBOYS.

I want Heroes riding on robohorses, YEHAAAW!

Well,

Firstly of all, a water theme is inevitable. I think they could really do an outstanding of of it, combining the sea creture designs of the 2007 Bionicle figures with the heros would work very well IMO. of course, the heros would not be crazy mutant hordika-esque creature like the mahri were, they would be just normal heros with water armor and breating apparatuses and such.

Next, a desert/sand/earth theme. Villains could be heavy armored brutes with mining or close range blunt weapons. heros would be, well, just accustomed to a sandy theme

Of course to round off the obvious ones, air. Villain wise, they would be very sleek and futuristic, and very advanced comared to their original counterparts. The heros would be like the phantoka, armed to fly and such with sleeker armor.

Now then, onto the more interesting ideas. I'm not talking about magnetism, electricity, etc, those are boring(though would produce interesting figures) What I wasnt to see is, for starters I really like the whole cowboy and carnival ideas. I would also like to see a transformer styled way of things(like slizer) where the heros can turn into an alternate mode. Villains, well, could do the same

Another idea would be "corrupted heros" run by a villain who corrupts hero cores to turn the heros to his side. Not exactly like von nebua, he got big and nasty, i'm saying just a simple eye color change and armor change, nothing extreme.

I'd also like to see a team of heros that is a unique 6 that combine into one figure.

And the inevitale "golden hero" made in chrome gold who was the first hero ever made(never gonna happen)

Another storyline idea would be like an apocolypse, basically all the heros except one were killed, and that last hero had to stop the villainy(taking influences from transformers and halo here)

The Mahri pretty much were normal heroes with water armor and breathing apparatuses and such. Unless you're suggesting that anything asymmetrical or with non-standardized posture constitutes "crazy mutant hordika-esque creatures".

Hero Factory heroes would probably be a lot more standardized than the Mahri were, if the early 2011 wave is at all indicative of what's to come. We haven't seen anything to suggest there will be any heroes with non-standard physique or posture in the years to come, even if something could still surprise us. But features like fins (Toa Mahri Hahli), air tanks (Toa Mahri Kongu and Nuparu), and breathing tubes (all the Toa Mahri) would probably still be par for the course.

I'd love to see an underground theme, since it's something BIONICLE never really did for a full year (even if secret stuff and major battles took place underground an awful lot). Heroes and villains alike could have different types of drills, shovels, lasers, and other digging equipment. Can't exactly think of any motifs for the individual villains to follow in such a theme.

An aerial theme would also be cool. The main villain could be a steampunk-inspired Sky Pirate who operates from a giant airship. The heroes would have aircraft inspiration, much like the Phantoka and Mistika.

And, of course, an arctic theme would be cool. Not sure what the characters' appearances would resemble. But it makes for a great setting.

I got spontaneously a few ideas for bad guys:

- First of all, something like Drilldozer, only with more and bigger drills.

- Ant Soldier.

- Mad Mole.

- Monster Earthworm.

- Armored Armadillo!

...Uhm... well yeah, I played some Mega Man X games in the past days really often...

The Ice-theme could be crossed with something like Mountains. That's also how I came up with the Yeti-Idea (that and Mega Man X8)

Well I guess I should have been more specific, but Matoro, Hewkii, and hahli most definatly were not completely normal heros.

It's obvious: Hero Factory should go where no constraction figure line has gone before, I.E. space. We never had a full-out space theme in Bionicle (and if we did, it probably would have been ravaged by at least a few disgrunted fans), but it would fit right in with Hero Factory. And I'm not just talking about using it half-heartedly - I'm talking about full-fledged space-ranger-esque heroes and alien villians, with a fully array of laser weapons (perhaps with new, compact light-up bricks) and villian-head molds that look like something out of Star Wars or Alien. AKA, Bionicle 2008 ramped up to a thousand, minus the constantly breaking parts and boring color-schemes.

If that happened, I might just be convinced to buy a set or two, just for kicks.

Well I guess I should have been more specific, but Matoro, Hewkii, and hahli most definatly were not completely normal heros.

Hewkii's mask was the only thing unusual about him... and I don't see what was "abnormal" about Hahli besides the fins. Matoro's only unusual trait was his posture, and it was completely normal when compared to other characters like Toa Mata Onua.

As I said, we won't likely see such diversity in posture in Hero Factory anytime soon. But the motifs of the Toa Mahri weren't anything too radical.

A space "theme" would indeed be awesome, but since Hero Factory deals pretty much entirely with robots I don't know how much uniqueness "aliens" could have. After all, Meltdown (a.k.a. "that tentacle monster") is pretty much as close to an alien as you can get, if you ask me.

I'd like a dinosaur theme, mixing real dinos and skeletal features.

It features a large purple T-Rex bad guy, yeeesss. =D

Each hero could be a callback to a space theme. Ice Planet Stormer

I have a better idea. Why not something like Dead Space? For villains we could have something like

-Puker

-Clever Girls

-Baby creature things that crawl and that are very annoying

-Bat thing that infects other robots/people

-A huge fat-megablocks (WTH?! Cuss words are censored?) thing that pukes babies

-Things with long arms

EDIT: Baby and Baby puker would not work for HF.

I loved the ideas being thrown around here, but don't we have to organize this so that we can discuss them more clearly? Like add in the first post two lists; with one having elemental themes (water, desert, ice) and the other general themes (carnival, cowboy, apoc, medivial, steampunk, classic space, etc.) ?

And has anyone thought about using liscensed(sp) themes for future waves? Like promoting the Tron movie by having a wave of heroes and villians that style while promoting the movie, and then next wave be something different?

Personally I would love an apoc wave with the main hero having orange and black armor called Freeman weilding a red crowbar, with enemies being Zombine ofcourse.
