When all seems to be lost, ISB Agent Goatm An 46-1 dives into action. Lord Tyrus fires furiously into the overwhelming Rebel forces to provide cover fire. Officer VeR is in position to take out the Rebel's main weapon. As he blindly leaps over the edge of the icy gorge, Goatm quickly assesses the situation below...

A Rebel officer presents an obvious target, but Goatm will need to save his blaster for the Rebels outside of his hammer's reach. The taun taun mounted Rebel will need to be removed from a distance, the gorge is too tight to outmaneuver the beast.

Officer VeR still hasn't taken out the cannon; this could be a problem...

Past scene...

Goatm's favorite blood-stained hammer has been with him from the very beginning on Naboo, his families adopted planet. Goatm's father, Kalib Ritter von An had fled to Naboo with Goatm's mother when her father refused their marriage. She was royalty and he a lowly knight with a dubious past. On Naboo, Kalib joined the Naboo Royal Space Fighter Corps and worked as a carpenter. He regularly grumbled about the royalist system, managed economy, and interventionist politics of the Naboo elites.

As Goatm grew older, he apprenticed under his father and was soon trusted with the sale and delivery of his father's creations. Goatm's father was too hard-nosed to politely deal with the entitled customers who desired his products, but Goatm had a humble tact with the clients that proved very useful to the family's prosperity.

15951071361_97ff89126f_c.jpg

This continued on into Goatm's teenage years, until the Separatist invasion in 32 BBY. Kalib was quite sympathetic to the Separatist cause until the Trade Federation blockade. Despite being a former knight and volunteer pilot, Kalib An was a stanch believer in the non-aggression principle. While these Separatists should be free to leave the Republic, they had no right to enforce a blockade. Kalib prepared his family for the worse. Their home was already on the edge of a large conservation zone and Kalib had secured a tunnel exiting there. This was done early on in case the family had been found by Goatm's vengeful grandfather.

On the day of the invasion, Goatm was sent into town to purchase more supplies with the remaining currency and wares the family had. Few on Naboo took the blockade seriously and Kalib's furniture sold at a premium because of the lack of off-world competition. Goatm hurried home as the invasion began. His mother and sister would already be into the tunnel and Kalib would be heading for his N-1 to fight back the invaders. Kalib didn't make it to his starfighter. Their home was swarming with droids. Apparently the Naboo government had been collecting records on its citizens for a long time and the data was not as secure as the bureaucrats thought. Kalib was quickly identified and targeted as a possible threat to the droid occupation.

Goatm rushed in to see Kalib dying in front of their home; hammer in one hand. His father couldn't speak. He just bled out and died.

Goatm would go on to lead a cell in the Naboo Resistance, tracking down collaborators and dispatching them with extreme brutality, often with his father's hammer. Goatm's mother and sister shunned Goatm for what he had become and once the occupation was over, they returned to his grandfather's court and Goatm embarked for new adventures in the Outer Rim.

Wow, this looks awesome so far. Can't wait to see more. Is second scene Naboo related?

Yes, I can tell you it is!

I know I've said it before, but I love this MOC, Goatman. Especially the temple.

P.S, Mine's coming along, albeit slowly, you know what I mean.

Naboo/Past WIP scene edited. I'd really appreciate some criticisms. My plan is to string up the N-1 for the left front of the scene. Sorry about the bad lighting, but it is just a WIP. (that droideka next to the fountain will be standing in the final version) Final pics of this scene by Thursday at the latest, so let me know fast.

Looking good so far, especially the current shot.

For the past scene, from what I can see, it looks large and has plenty of details but hard to make out. If you can put on some lights and some focus on the gathering, it'd be much appreicated. :)

Because it is fairly large and in several pieces I don't want to take it outside for better lighting right now; it would just take too long. But I'll try to help out. Working clockwise from the top, those are STAPs along the back, a droideka and a fountain, a smaller scale Elder head, lots of towns people fleeing into the grass (grass to come soon), dying ancestor, young Goatm, and crashed speeder. I plan to do a second shot without all the craziness of the droid invasion to better display the build instead of the story.

If y'all see any big problems, let me know. I get anxious about the deadline and my opportunities for lighting, so I'll likely shoot it this week. Would love to hear from some of the expert Rebels about how to improve this. Also, this seems minor but any suggestions on background? I'd like those STAPs to stand out but also want to compliment the building and make it look like Naboo.

Since it is Naboo, maybe green construction paper for the background ... or if you have a garden or something else green?

I like it overall. This comment won't help much because you probably can't do much about it, but the right side seems crowded. The people fleeing are right near the dying relative, there are STAPs, the droideka near the fountain, etc. While the left hand side has pretty much the droid and in the future the N1. Maybe have fewer people fleeing to make it less congested?

I'll be editing in GIMP so I can delete whatever background is in my shot and add any color I want. You should definitely try out GIMP, it's free and pretty easy. http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

The overall arrangement is definitely something that I can easily adjust. I'll try some different arrangements to even out the sides once I get the N-1 hung up and in the shot. Thank you.

This was worth the wait! The past scene rocks.

The stone path through the brush, the fountain, etc. is not just very Naboo-ish, but very pretty. That little carport (speederport?) is fantastic. The lighting is great and the little details like the family all waving bye as Goatman heads off with the furniture help "make" the scene.

Something that CANNOT be overlooked is how the plant by the pipe and the vines on the building grow in the last scene. What attention to detail!

The story is very compelling and brings the scenes alive. Great build and entry.

Wow. I was waiting to comment until you had added more and everything I see now is incredible! Your ice-planet scene is cool, but what takes the cake is the past scene! It has a perfect Naboo feel and I love your speeder design! The story is great and the action and set-up of the scenes is incredible!

Fantastic!

The two MOC`s looking so great with all the details and "action"!

For me is the first one the better build because you have done an absolut stunning job with the architecture and this only on 16x16!

Goatm's favorite blood-stained hammer [...]

This might be the best line in SoNE thus far

As others have said, the Naboo scene is beautiful - I love the statue head and the pathway through the field, and the building looks very authentic.

You've done a great job with texture in the first scene - the straight lines and pillars of the building contrast nicely with the sharp jumble of ice and snow.

Like I told Beaver, I'd love to work with you guys if you collaborate again on the next episode (although hopefully Goatm will have enough time to recover from his fairly horrific wounds first ...)

Fine by me, I'm sure the others won't mind.

Everything is superb about that entry. Building the vignettes that high is not my style, but seems to be modern interpretation. And so you packed a lot of details on it. Scenes with snow and Hoth Rebels are always a good decision.

The past scene takes the cake with the classical color scheme and a cool designed speeder.

Thanks for all of the nice comments and generous judging.

New edit at a different angle, w/ some story spliced in. Just had some extra time at work today and thought I could have done better at editing originally. Took out the N-1 and STAPs because it made the shot too busy. Hope y'all enjoy the bonus.

Great idea, it would be good if you did that for all of your builds, then made some sort of story/slideshow thing. Edited by MKJoshA
