[CG:D7 U vs HC] Teaching the High Council!

Recommended Posts

Down in a tunnel along the road from Queenscross to Cedrica a couple of Ulandians are digging and hacking away at the dirt and loose rocks. Above them extends a short barricade across the narrow road. On the other side of the barricade their High Council taskmasters lounge, cracking jokes with each other and carrying along generally. Now and then they call to the Ulandians to make sure they're still around, but they don't seem worried about keeping a close eye upon the digging procedure.

In fact, the Ulandians have made quite some progress. The barricade is already high enough for it to be very inconvenient for the High Councilers to see over, and the "slaves" have started digging a short tunnel under the rest of the road. "I hate to say this," one remarked to the other, resting on his shovel for a second, "but these High Council guys are really... naive!"

"I know, right!? I mean like, for one thing, we gave in really easy. In fact you gave up so easily I thought they would be crazy suspicious right from the start. But nothing. And then, building a barricade right here? Where it would take, oh, I don't know, maybe ten seconds to walk around it?"

"Yeah! And then, I kind of thought these guys had grown up around here. They should know the location well enough. But I guess they've been imported from the Arkbri. Anyways, really, putting us right next to an oil pool..."

"Yep. This is gonna be good!"

The two "slaves" labored in silence for a few minutes. Presently a rich black substance began to ooze through the dirt surrounding them. One winked to the other. "You ready? You should probably back out." He picked up a couple of stones lying around, grinning. Patiently he struck them together, over and over. At last a spark flashed out and fell upon a small puddle of oil. The Ulandian promptly sprang backwards. The next second an incredible crash was heard and a bright flash of flame and smoke hurled the High Councilers, the barricade, and a good portion of the road far into the sky!

The pit and explosion, figless:

Link back to Gideon's build. Those cacti were so good I knew I'd have to do something really explosive to be able to come close! Comments are welcome!

Great counter! I really like the layering of dirt and rock in the base

Those soldiers don't look Barqan though

Very nice! I really like the explosion and the tunnel! While I don't think it's quite as good as Gideon's, I think you did put up a good fight!

Great idea for a counter and nice looking "special effects"!

Fortunately, tunneling any significant in the Westersands would be a doomed effort due to the ground conditions so this cannot be very far along the road. Most of the previous roadblocks would be enough to stop a marching army, and putting bigger holes in the road is just helping the effort of keeing Queenscross safe!

And any casualties due to the explosion would only be expendable mercenaries

Those soldiers don't look Barqan though

The original MOC featured the Arkbri falcons, whose main colors are dark bluish gray and dark blue, so it is ok.

Nice job with the black cactus!! The explosion is also extremely nice exectuted!

A very great counter to Gideon's build but as he stated, it is only one small roadblock of the many we got there

Thanks guys!

Good point, I'll fix that. I was trying to copy Gideon's soldiers (as closely as I could, which wasn't very close!) and for some reason just assumed his soldiers would be from Barqa!

Thanks!

As long as you don't just vote party, that's fine with me! :sweet: I'm actually personally tied as to which is better... Gideon had those outstanding cacti but other than that the build was a bit plain. On the other hand, I think my landscaping is slightly better, and the explosion is fair, but I'm not completely sure that those will outweigh the cacti! I'll be quite curious to see who wins, but I do hope we wont have anyone (either Ulandus or High Council) voting just based on their team.

...And any casualties due to the explosion would only be expendable mercenaries  ...

 If that's the way the High Council looks at their soldiers!

Thanks!

Ha, ha, they ought to have known that the Ulanders would have put up more of a fight if they didn't have something up their sleeves

Great build Kai, very nice explosion and I like that burning cacti!:thumbup: for the approval! :classic:

I agree with this!! I vote for the most original build :classic:

So even a not-a-moc-expert has a chance winning as long as his MOC is clever found and I see he came out of his comfort zone :classic:

Very good counter. I can really not tell who should win. I guess this will be a close decision.

Great pit design and the explosion looks quite impressive

I think this is your best build yet for Challenge IV :classic:

Woah, excellent and humorous counter! The explosion effects look great, and that burning cactus is a great addition. That was going to be a hard GA to counter, but this is awesome!

Yeah, I'm interested in seeing who will pull ahead!

You're definitely right about that being a hard GA... I knew right off that I was going to have to do something really unique!
