Hooray. the newest Ideas set has been announced! Alongside the Caterham is an Adventure Time Buildable Figure pack!

Set number is a guess, might be wrong so the future will change that. (update - it was!)

I am confused how Adventure Time got picked over some of the others? Unless that is way way more popular than I know and there is something I'm missing that will make this a viable set.

It's a really popular cartoon. Pretty up there in the pop culture world..?

I think the possibility of future Adventure Time sets is the most intriguing aspect of this. Brick-built figures? Eh.

Just looked up some pictures of it. It's likely we could get some interesting parts from this.

Found a couple custom things that look way better than the set Lego approved:

Custom Minifigures

Rejected Adventure Time Project

I wonder why this got approved but not the above project except for the Minfiigures which maybe they didn't want that many new molds?

Excited to see Adventure Time coming to Lego, even if it's in brick-figure form...not sure how that'll be.

But with the apparent Adventure Time dimensions packs on the horizon, things seem to be looking good for the Land of Ooo.

I really enjoy the aesthetic of the show but for some reason I've never gotten into it. I don't tend to watch cartoons unless it's a binge from time to time, and AT seems daunting.

That said I'm excited to see a fresh new license come in a unique form. Can't wait to see some photos and box art of the retail builds.

Given the distinctive look of Adventure Time, brick-built honestly serves the characters and the franchise well. Of course special molds would also do well, too, and I'm sure the handful of characters we'll get in dedicated figure form via LEGO Dimensions will be mathematical, but there's no way they'd ever give as many characters that way as they can this way, since practically every character could use or even require at least one new mold, if not more.

I had to look up the brick built figures to see what they're like and I honestly like them. I'm not hugely knowledgeable on AT, but the episodes I have seen are pretty good and seem really appropriate and solid for kids of this generation.

It's nice to see another licensed product get the vote. The license platform is a good model to help Lego financially and with their global presence. We're really getting to the age when an IP knows they've made it if they've been Lego-ized.

I think this will be a fun set. Looking forward to it. To the dimension sets from AT as well.

I only watched a few episodes of the show and it is a really great cartoon to be made in LEGO form.

I'm not excited about the set, but I'm very happy to hear that they've secured the license. I can't wait to see the Dimensions figures. I'm hoping they go all out with Fun Pack, Level Pack, and Team Pack, but I'll be happy either way. I'm a huge fan of the show. I really hope that they turn this into a theme, I would probably buy every set.

For those who are interested but haven't seen it, I'd suggest watching. It's very good, and only gets better, darker, and slightly more mature as it goes.

This is great news.

Do you think they are going to release all the characters featured in the submission?

I just want a Lemongrab mini figure from this. If they make that I will be forever content! (Okay we still need a proper Ponda Baba figure )

Probably not every single one, but certainly the most prominent, important characters, along others who are particularly noteworthy, fan-favorite, and/or especially visually distinctive (though of course that last part describes most characters from the show). Obviously Jake and Finn will be the two biggies, and I think we can also count on Princess Bubblegum, Lady Rainicorn, Ice King, Gunter, and Marceline.

I just saw a video on Megablok's Kubros figures, which are similar in concept to the Adventure Time figures, and one thing that jumped out at me is that the He-Man figure is full of "light-flesh" color bricks, which is a color LEGO doesn't have on normal consumer-sold bricks (outside of minifigure parts).

I know Adventure Time has characters with unnatural skin colors but those colors do match many of the colors that Lego does use, which probably helped the project get approved. But Finn is normal human with natural skin color and so would this be the first time Lego is putting light-flesh colored bricks into a consumer set? I know they have those colors at Lego-created sculptures at theme parks and stores.

Wasn't there a theory that the reason Lego didn't want to make bricks that match certain skin colors was because they didn't want people to make pornographic creations? Think of the children! :)

Excited for these. I watch AT on occasion and love the characters. I like the way the majority of them look, and they don't have to worry about making new parts. I hope they keep all the characters in the submission.

I like these Minifigures a lot, but I doubt these would see the light of day considering all the new parts....

This reasoning baffles me, to be honest. I mean, you can still make those kinds of creations with non-flesh colors... Take a picture in grayscale, and BAM - who would know what color you used?

Hopefully this isn't something LEGO is doing, because I feel it goes against everything LEGO values in regards to creativity, even if it is pornographic content. People should be allowed to make whatever they want with the bricks available, but that doesn't mean it isn't inappropriate. We still have to follow forum rules on what content is posted, which is also why I feel that reasoning is arbitrary. Even if there are sexually explicit MOCs, I doubt Eurobricks would ever allow such MOCs to be posted.

A bit of a tangent, but I just wanted to share my opinion on it...

This is 100% nonsense. There is no such policy in place.

Hmm... the LEGO Ideas Doctor Who set and the Doctor Who Level Pack for LEGO Dimensions use different but similar builds for their brick-built Dalek figures, complete with the same printed element on top (and presumably, the Level Pack might have used an even more similar or even identical build as the Ideas set, if not for the need for 3-in-1 alternate builds using the same set of parts). I wonder whether the BMO figure in the Adventure Time Team Pack might be the same way, and have a design similar to one in the Ideas set?
