A question about .lcd files

Recommended Posts

Well, I was making official sets out of Leocad, but sincerely I don't know how to "find" the cad of the files  .

At the moment, I'm building just ancient school sets.

Old files created using previous versions of Leocad between 2009 and early 2011, now are lost.

First try searching for the file name or 'lcd' in search.

If that does not work try the following:

1) Open Leo cad and add a few bricks in a new file.

2) Save the file but pay close attention on were the file is going to be saved.

3) assuming that you save all of the files in the same place you should now be able to find the folder with all of the Leo-cad files.

I know the directory where the files are saved! I mean, when the cad file is uploaded I open it and I have the "code" that can be turned into a virtual model. For example, a L3B file:

I'm NOT interested to convert a code in images (a thing tha I've already done in the past of course), my interest is converting a model into code.

When I open a .lcd file with the notepad I've not the ordinate source code but this:

Have you tried to export the file in a dat file and then opened it with notepad?

Correct me if I am wrong but you want to read all of the parts separately in a text file format like this?:

1 7 -3.981 -8.22 -44.402 0.849476 -0.42114 -0.317851 -0.0625229 0.517826 -0.853197 0.523908 0.744643 0.413551 3835.dat

This was a problem that more people asked. The solution was to export to .dat files. I think this is something to put into the section index. :classic:

Or maybe someone can write a short FAQ about LeoCad?

I use it, but only occasionally (I better use LDD and SR3D) so I don't think to be the right guy to write a FAQ.

I was mainly interested to use Leocad on Ubuntu, but yesterday I had a lot of problem while configuring the program from the folder via shell, so I did prefer download the Windows version.

(previously I had an old Leocad release working on Ubuntu in my old PC, but it had a lot of lacking features that made creating something complex very difficult)
