Your LEGO regrets

Recommended Posts

Hi, I know there's a topic called "what's the set that pains you for not buying it" this ones similar so apart from listing the set that you regret not buying do you have any Lego regrets? For example a set that you regret taking apart, a Lego event that you regret not attending, a Lego competition you regret not entering, some Lego that you regret selling/giving away, anything to do with Lego :classic:

Here are mine:

1. Taking apart some of my city sets.

2. Giving away my Lego Tractor.

3. Trading some of my minifigures.

4. Not entering a Lego competition

The only thing I really regret are my Dark Ages; I occasionally checked up on the Bionicle storyline but when I really got back into Lego, I realized how much there was I missed. :/

I regret not buying the Public Transport Station (8404) and 4WD with Horse Trailer (7635) when they were available retail. I was just coming out of my dark ages and never got around to buying them.

Now I have to pay inflated BrickLink prices, plus international shipping as they aren't available here any more

Coming out of my dark age too lat to pick up Cafe Corner at a reasonable price!

Selling all of my childhood Lego at a carboot sale when I was younger for stupidly cheap (Same with my original Star Wars toys & original Transformers!)

I regret throwing away all my old Lego boxes, although I have kept some of the boxes for UCS sets etc. No point in starting to hoard them again so they continue to be recylced

Leaving my childhood collection at my parents' house, where they disappeared into a black hole during their last move.

Ouch!

I'd have to say not buying a couple extra of the old sets when I first came out my dark ages. I had tons of extra money back then but I was only buying one of each set.

Giving away all of my lego from my childhood, I had loads of really good sets. Police station, fire station, service station, post office, technic pneumatic excavator, technic forklift, loads of smaller city sets, space sets etc.

Most of all I would like to have the police station back.

I regret not having started building much while our sons were young and playing w LEGO a. lot. Most moms just buy and sort them instead getting into building for themselves and enjoying the hobby.

I regret not wanting the zombie from mini fig series 1. It just didn't appeal to me until I had watched the walking dead. Now I can't get enough of them and there £20 a go!

Easy:selling my childhood LEGO, mostly 90's stuff, some 80's. The different Castle & Space factions, Town, Western, Adventures...you name it I probably owned it. :cry_sad:

It has to be not buying a lifetime pass for £150 - £200 back in 2001 at Legoland Windsor, pre Merlin taking over the parks. However we have to remember the financial mess they were in back then, we would never have known if they would have survived under direct Lego control. I guess the fact they are still there today is most likely down to Merlin's commercialisation and marketing them like their other theme parks.

A while ago in 2008 I had to choose which set I wanted : Cafè Corner, Green Grocer, and the Town Plan. I was inexperienced then, and couldn't weigh down the pros and cons so I chose the Town Plan, because it had 3 buildings instead of one. The only one of those 3 sets that hasn't gone significantly up in value, my luck ;(. Don't get me wrong, I still like the set, but I'm still wondering 1. Why I didn't choose the Cafè Corner 2. Why the Town Plan didn't go up in value that much

Deciding to get the QAR instead of the Imperial Flagship.

Deciding to get the QAR instead of the Black Pearl here. I wanted both, but the Pearl practically vanished from local shelves while the QAR lingered for a while.
