crayonboi Posted June 6, 2013 Iron Man Mark 39, Gemini, Spotted in Crayon's Winter Village! Just trying my beginner hands on customizing the iron man minifig.. Started working on the Mark 39 first as i have transparent water slide decal on hand, so easier to work on white background. The helmet color is done using those hobby spray paint. The rest of the body parts are also spray painted as the paint color i have does not match with the Lego white color, thus if i did not spray the body parts, the helmet and the rest of the body will have different color tone. The masking on the face mask is still not perfect, need to find a better masking solution to it. Hope my first custom minifig pass the standard :) Now waiting for my white water slide decal to arrive before i doing the other iron man design :) Cheers! becauseBATMAN Posted June 6, 2013 EXCELLENT work! Your decals came out very clean Tip: the chin-area on the iron man helmet is always the hardest to paint. I recommend using a hobby knife to lightly & carefully scratch away the blemishes and mistake areas

crayonboi Posted July 2, 2013 These are fantastic. Any chance you could share the decals? I'd also love to know your painting techniques and what kind of paint you use. Thanks. Hi! I will love to share the decal with everyone, but right now i'm still working on more decal design of the other amour/suit, thus i will release it for all to enjoy once everything is finish. Excellent work! Did you design the decals for Mark 39 yourself? I'd also like to know your techniques on paiting those Lego parts? -Dutch Nope, as mention, mark 39 decal is from HJ studio, but other then that, the other 5 design is done by myself. As for techniques, mine is nothing great to boost about, just using those model spray can to change the color of the helmet, and masking tape to mask the area that does not require any spray painting. As the kind of paint, i'm using those Tamiya or Mr. Hobby spray can. Hope i answer all the question, if i miss out any details, please do let me know. :) Cheers! TheLegoDr Posted August 10, 2013 I hadn't seen this before. These look great. Your decals work really well here and the end result shows. I wish LEGO would release official versions, but these will have to do. Keep up the good work. I'd also like to see the decals when it is all said and done to possibly "copy" your idea. Cheers! (Dutch) Posted September 12, 2013 You've done an outstanding job applying those decals. I know how hard it is to apply white decal paper. You've gotta cut it just right or else you'll have a white border.
