[ESL - MRCA End] : The end of the Appleseed

This is my attempt at building the end of the Appleseed, LAS during the January MRCA.

I don't know how the rule is for this kind of build. Is it also a Freebuild ? And do I have to fill a WebForm ?

The end of the Appleseed :

Captain Log entry,

Day 29 :

This was a lovely day at Terreli when we began to load new young appletrees and some good iron weapons from our Capital in order to help to develop the colonies in Nellisa and Berelli. The loading was very effective and we were ready before our escort, the Queen of Terreli, arrived at the bay.

Day 30 :

The start of our run has been delayed because some of the vessels supposed to join us during the run were not registered ! Ah ! Bl...y administration !

Day 31 :

We are well escorted ! The Queen of Terreli fought dangerous smugglers this morning. For what I saw with my spyglass it was a hard fight ! Hopefully the eslandolan warship is not too badly injured.

In the afternoon, Juan de Hespérida asked me to make a little detour from our escorted run because he is saying we are near a possible position of the Island of the No-one Orchard, where we could find the Golden Apple !

Since I don't really understand the thing why an island have différent positions or how an island could be here and there I agreed to search a bit around the area Juan had indicated.

This is possibly the last line I will write in ths book ! We have been hit by below along the starboard lowdeck ! There is an enormous leak ! I don't know if we can reach the coast... I was sure it wasn't a reef ! There are no reefs around ! Some of the crewmen thought have seen an enormous shadow passed underneath the keel ! ...

And so the Appleseed went to the depth of the Ocean !

No one heard about the crew or the captain until now !

Felipe de la Manzana was found harrassed but alive in the coastal beaches of Terreli !

Felipe explained that all the crew is lost, and of course all the cargo !

He managed to survive the shark attacks by throwing them apples just before being eaten ! He said that one shark was nearly to choke after eating an apple ! This is what saved him !

Felipe conclued with this sentence full of wisdom :

- This would never happened in an appletree orchard !

And finally here lies the Appleseed :

I have to make some precisions :

- First : no ships were harmed during this scene. In fact the Appleseed is still built, I just made the rigging better !

- Secondly : this ship did not deserve to sunk ! I am saying that because when I built this MOC, the ship did really escaped my hands and fell but did not broke ! I made it pretty much sturdy !

- Third and last : I will not license her anymore and nobody will be able to ! This is my personal rule when I entered in BoBS : I will not license any Lost At See ship I will loose ! (it's stimulating me to build better vessels !)

It’s a sad story but still funny

Felipe throwing the apple at the shark is a very nice touch. The bottom of the sea looks good too, cluttered but colourful.

Cudos for having the motivation to MOC such an unfortunate even for yourself. Nicely executed as well. The reef shows some clever techniques, really cool.

Not sure sharks have much of a taste for apples, but they do seem to eat everything else, so it may work out.

I am pretty impressed by the sea bed build. Are the minifig flippers supposed to be coral?

Very cool underwater scene Faladrin, excellent work with the rocks and sunken ship, and the underwater plants and animals are great as well! Glad to see that Felipe escaped the wreck, and even used his apples to do so! I'm going to applaud your choice to build a new vessel instead of using the "sister ship" too, and am looking forward to seeing you continue improving in your shipbuilding!

Hold off on the registering the build until I fix the free build form to include a spot that says "MRCA build" I will let everyone know when it is fixed. It does not count against your free build limit.

A really inventive way to go down :) I love the seabed and the movement showing man, apple and shark having a good time at sea! May your second ship be more fortunate than your first! No go there and rescue that captain of yours before he is out of apples to throw and gets eaten!

Really nice underwater plants! Good work on the positioning of your (broken) ship as well! I hope this is a sand bank or something shallow, otherwise I don't envy Felipe his swim!

Excellent depiction of the ill-fated trade run. The angled position is a lot more interesting than showing her sitting flat, and the damage and debris look reasonable. The posing of the captain and shark are both good. I like the surroundings; they're nice and colorful the way they should be. Too bad it all ended this way, but this is a fine farewell. Here's to better and more prosperous ships in the future!

It's a shame to see such a fine vessel at the bottom of the seas. I'm glad to see the captain escape, and will look forward to his new and improved vessel.

As for the build, I think you did a great job. The coral has some particularly nice parts usage with the flippers and hairbrushes. All the wreckage strewn about the seafloor is a great addition.

A great build to show the end of such a lovely ship. I'm glad you took it in stride as I'm not sure I would take the loss so well. I would love to see the upgrade you made to her rigging. Brick on!

A sad end for such a great vessel. Still, lovely underwater MOC (I kind of want to get my lego scuba divers out to look for treasure....). I also love the way Felipe escapes the shark using the humble apple!

I tried some new techniques in the reef coral life I never used and I am happy many of you liked it !

The posing of Felipe is just made by 3 transparent 2x1 bricks linked by one stud to the other and linked behind the minifig foot (the hat has been upped by a transclear stud in order to make believe it is floating), add this setup a good photo angle and voila ! This is nothing very hard or difficult to obtain IMO.

I'm happy how this posing turned out ! I really wanted to show Felipe throwing an apple at the shark...

Great build, Faladrin - This is a great underwater moc, and as others have said, the variety and parts use for the corals is great. The parts lying about and the battered look of rigging and hull works really well - It has a very authentic look.

I like your rule about not reusing ships, and will be looking forward to seeing your next ships!

Any chance we will see pictures of the Appleseed with updated rigging?
