legotrainfan Posted January 16, 2015 I once bought several elements at shop.lego.com. Even though one element was available according to the website, I later - after ordering - got a message saying that that element had been removed from my order because it was no longer in production and they had run out of stock. Just at the beginning of this year I bought Santa's Workshop for the sales price. The set was on backorder and I hoped I'd get it soon. I had also ordered Detective's Office at the same time. Well, a while later I was informed that Santa's Workshop would not be delivered and that it'd been removed from my order. Too many people seemed to have bought it and only some were lucky enough to really get it for that price. Have such things happened to you too?
MAB Posted January 16, 2015 Yes, for such a large company it is disgraceful that they don't have real time stock control. They cancelled a lot of sale items this year.
BooBooLand Posted January 20, 2015 I agree with MAB that this is one area that LEGO really needs to work on. And yes, this has happened to me before and it will probably happen to me again and again until LEGO fixes the problem. I find that if the item says "Available Now", there shouldn't be a problem. But if it says, "Out of stock, expected ship date in 30 days", or "Out of stock, expected ship date xx xxx xxxx", then there's a very big chance you won't get it. I'm guessing that at this point, they really don't have anything left in their warehouse, and they're just waiting to see if they get any back in terms of returns or other warehouses or retail stores.
