dviddy Posted July 9, 2007 1/2/ Made for a contest on BZPower, where one had to build the mascot. Hence the head with the gears behind it. <<DV>>
Asuka Posted July 9, 2007 Very nice, with an impressive structure and a cool color scheme! *y*
Grand Moff Viceroy Posted July 9, 2007 I like the republic colors and how you used both technic and system pieces
Lord Thrawn Posted July 9, 2007 Not sure I like the shoulder pads but otherwise it's really nice. I like your solution to the hands, something I've been meaning to try out for a while (but alas the MOC juices haven't been flowing) and they look really cool on Tohu. Starwars4J Posted July 9, 2007 I really like not only the color blocking on this, but how it's made. While bionicle is nice, there's nothing wrong with merging it with some system to get a boosted effect. Overall this seems really well thought out and I like the way it's put together. I also like the fact that there's no mask on this one (seems different to me, though I've never been big in the bionicle community). You mentioned it was for a contest, what are the rules, and does this guy have a backstory?
dviddy Posted July 9, 2007 You mentioned it was for a contest, what are the rules, and does this guy have a backstory? Rules regarding the build itself are basically no painted pieces, and keep it roughly 25/75 system/technic (for rules purposes, Bionicle is still considered technic). The last one is giving me a bit of trouble on the site, but by both piece count and overall body percentage, the MOC is right in line with the rules. As for a backstory, all the admins ever gave us was that Hapori Tohu is the heart of BZPower. The mascot and figurehead. That's about it, really. I really like not only the color blocking on this, but how it's made. While bionicle is nice, there's nothing wrong with merging it with some system to get a boosted effect. Yeah, I've actually been unable to build a MOC that doesn't marry the two piece genres into one for awhile now. I can't imagine truly impressive Bionicle-esque MOCs that don't use both to some degree, honestly. And with TLG's cross-branding with the Bionicle playsets, I'm surprised more don't do it. <<DV>>
