Captain Braunsfeld Posted November 1, 2013 [pid][/pid] 155C Hello again, when I read C.S. Foresters Hornblower novels I was intrigued by the bomb vessels he commands during the time of Napoleon's war against Russia. However, I was never sure what they would look like. So, I have made up my mind. And created huge mortars. And very small ships to carry them.... :-) This is probably historical nonsense, but I had a sufficient amount of fun. So, here they are, the pseudo-british bomb vessels: The mortar is probably too massive for such a small ship: .. and where to put the ammunition? I probably chose not to care :-) Take care, till next time, Captain Braunsfeld
SlimShady Posted November 1, 2013 I've never heard about them but it sounds very interesting. And your models look very good, they're small but detailed.
schermvlieger Posted November 1, 2013 This is a proper Lego masterpiece. I love that infantile look because it fits so well with how i looked at lego when i first discovered it. The (soccer)balls in the Grand Emporium come to mind as ammunition, but then in black of course.
michaelozzie Posted November 1, 2013 I think this is what you might be thinking of. A Royal Navy mortar vessel. http://www.westbourne-model.co.uk/acatalog/HM_Mortar_Vessel_ConvulsionNelsons_Navy_Jotika_CaldaCraft.html

Captain Braunsfeld Posted November 3, 2013 Hi Michaelozzie, thanks for finding a real bomb vessel - obviously these things need to have a longer body/hull. However, I like the idea that everyone has to stay in the back of the ship in order to stabilize the thing :-)
Capt. Stabbin Posted November 4, 2013 Very nice! These would fit in with any official LEGO Pirates set! Great job.... [bloggedcp][/bloggedcp]
kermit Posted November 4, 2013 Nice build but isn`t the cannons a little too big for the ship it might topple over in rough seas.
