REVIEW: 2259 Ninjago Skull Moterbike

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow Eurobrickers!

Today I put together a quick review of 2259; the Ninjago Skull Moterbike!

The box:

The Asian/derset colour scheme dosn't realy grow on me

The figures:

060204-0039.jpg

The figures in this set are realy neat

Jay's Ninja clothes are full of details

Chopov has a neat helmet and neck piece  . Although I'm not sure why he needs the turban :look:

Here you can see Jay's torso prints in more detail and the amazing mask

Chopov has printing on his body which you can't see in this picture. Also note the skellie wellies

The moterbike:

The moterbike is VERY cool :classic: . There are two stickers on each side which I don't mind but other people will. There are two flames which you cannot see but they are the same ones included with the Toy Story trash compacter.

This is were Chopov sits while riding the bike and is that-GASP! PURPLE!-ahem-I mean there are some rare purple pieces in this set

060204-0037.jpg

This is the bad view for the Ninja

With this set there is a hammer function which hammers the massive skull on the front onto poor Ninja

Ratings:

Design: 10/10 Brilliant idea for the place where Chopov stands and the skull on the front is amazing

Parts: 8/10 Lots of intersting parts as well as the new 1x4 trans red plate and PURPLE!

Build: 9/10 Very cleverly done. Building the skull and intresting way to build a mutated moterbike thing

Minifigs: 9/10 Jay has exellent torso prints and Chopov has the rare helmet and neckpiece.

Playability: 8/10 Can Jay defeat Chopov and reclaim the golden weapon? Or can you smash Jay with the hammer to smithirines

Overall:44/50 Great set with new minifigures and nice design.

Bonus:

'Screw the Golden weapon' said Jay 'I want some purple  '

I guess I'm gonna be "that guy" today.

This review needs some work. While we all appreciate any looks at new sets, the photos you have are woefully inadequate. They are extremely small, dark and out of focus. There is very little info if anything in these pictures that I can't see from the pics on LEGO's website. Try to get a digital camera (not a webcam or phone camera!) and become familiar with its output. Take clear, in focus shots with a neutral background. Put them in a hosting place like Brickshelf or Flickr, then link to them here. Tutorials to do this and many other picture related tasks are in the General Forum stuck to the top of the forum.

Look at the quality of reviews here at EB to see what we are expecting. Take this recent one of the new pyramid set by Hickley, one of our admins: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=48652

Good reviews often include things like:

- Set data, pieces, release date, price, links to set databases on other websites (Bricklink, LEGO, etc)

- Box pics

- What's in the box when you pour it out

- Look at the sticker sheet

- Parts arranged in a square

- Unique, rare, interesting, large quantity of a part picture

- Mid-build pics of model or instructions or sub-model, if interesting

- Several shots of final model

- Description of play features if interesting

- pros / cons

- Departing humor shot

Anyone can create good reviews by looking at the good ones here and putting in some work. I hope I did not discourage you too much if you do want to review.

If you couldn't tell the last shot was the 'Departing Humour Shot'

I see what point you have though so next time I make a reveiw (which I will) I shall follow your (kind of  ) helpful hints.

Don't take it the wrong way Pompommini, TheWarden was only trying to give you some tips on how to produce a better review.

You really should not take it wrong. While it my be debatable what needs to be in a review or how you structure it, which I btw quite liked, the pictures make up half the rent (or more). Your pictures should be better than the average bootleg pics that pop up over the times. You have the set at hand and you present it. You have the chance to take some hi-res focussed pics and everybody is happy!

Take the criticism and think about it, don't overreact, and post your reply.

There's also the Reviewer's Academy in this forum where tips and tricks are shared e.g. how to make pictures with good lighting etc.

There are a few items in this set, at least one, why I want this. Which is the gold chain and it is also a new part, so share your expereince and what tumbled out of the box!

Ok sorry for my last post :cry_sad::blush:

The reason I couldn't show 'the money shot' is because I had already built the set. I was in a rush as well so you could just call it an overview if you don't like my review :cry_sad:

Next time I shall have bigger pictures but I'm not going to add the brickshelf refrences

Pompommini out :cry_sad::blush:
