ANOTHER RUMOR:

According to this forum thread at Brickset (found in another EB article regarding 'Legends of Chima'), a Brickset user (xkillthelightsx, near the bottom of the thread) in Australia claims to have seen the retailer catalogs, and had this to say regarding City:

Quote

There's a pretty cool looking city set that's like a museum heist or some such thing that's a bit more detailed and aimed at the 6-12 bracket.

Now I regard rumors as simply that-- and until I see otherwise I'm not sure I believe this-- but thought it was worth at least reporting to all my City friends. Try to contain your drool until we have more concrete intel!

It's amazing how much more TLG has been able to lock down now that they have the retailers signing confidentiality agreements. I was sure it'd all leak out early anyway.

With that said, we have very little to go on, even in the mere rumor department. Here's what I can offer:C

1. The 4473 Police Helicopter set photo was leaked several months ago. No word on if there's a full Police wave coming, whether or not the figs are placeholders, or whether or not this ties into the whispers of a SWAT theme to tie into the upcoming City Undercover Wii2 game.

2. The guy that claims to have seen the upcoming Super Heroes wave (sorry, forget the name) claims to have possibly seen a crane. Personally another Construction wave sounds unlikely, but what do I know?

3. Finally, we have the rumor above from Brickset user  xkillthelightsx about a new museum heist set. This would seem to support the idea of a SWAT theme, so perhaps that has some legs after all.

This is just what I've gathered in the past few weeks, and it's all online rumor and nothing else, so take it for what you will. But we have to start seeing things SOON, right??! I'm also assuming at least some of the mods and/or ambassadors have seen 2013 and are also sworn to secrecy, so I dont expect any of them to comment, confirm or deny. But we have to star seeing SOMEthing soon, right?

"I don't have a problem! I can stop buying Lego whenever I want. I just...urmm, don't want to stop right now. Yeah, that's it. I'll stop later. Maybe. Someday."

Yea, the Museum Heist thing was stated by someone else a long time ago, which means it might be true. :sweet:

I remember a rumor a while ago saying there was going to be a SWAT subtheme. The museum sounds cool.

A Museum? That would be really cool to get. I wonder about the scale though, whether it would be just a facade or something more elaborate?

Yeah, I'mwondering what kind of scale that would be too.  A bit more details makes me think it might be like the Bank we saw a while ago.  Of course, a museum leaves a lot open - what kind of museum?  History?  Science?  Rock/gem museum?  :sceptic:

The museum sounds pretty cool. I think it would be the size of the bank set with maybe a facade like the town hall such as the entrance. It would have some nice pillars and a few details. Then instead of the gold/money truck, it could be a SWAT van? These are just my hopes and hopefully the set is up and coming.

A museum would make a better modular right ?
The quote about a heist sounds more like Super Heroes to me.....but it shouldn't be too soon before information, etc., comes forth. :classic:

Wasn't there originally a rumor that the museum set might be related to the Batman line? (although it would be really sweet to see some new and more complex sets for the City Police to go along with "Grand Theft Lego" errrr, I mean Lego Undercover.

(a museum set does just sort of scream a Batman / Catwoman set or a Spiderman / Black Cat one.)

Correct, but it also includes helicopter.

Can't wait to see what this Museum set looks like. I hope it's substantial and not just a facade!

Thank you very much for this information, Mr. Elijah Timms and Cwetqo! :classic:

That's really great news!
It's great to hear that there'll be even a helicopter included - hopefully it'll be about the size of 3658.
I wonder whether we'll get real SWAT men with burgonet, helmet and weaponry or only regular police officers (with the new torso already seen in the video game) without burgonet, helmet and weaponry.

I completely agree with you, ChrisW!
Looking into the history of Lego City buildings, I would guess that it's on the one hand not just a facade but on the other hand it doesn't include too much. Since there's a heist taking place, I could well imagine that on the one side of the museum is some sort of small security office with a computer on a desk and a chair and on the other side a juwel inside a big window case. Perhaps there's a window in the roof through which the burglars can rope down into the building. I wouldn't count on more than one floor (from the outside the town hall in 10184 is looking huge, but it has only one floor, too).
What do you think?

Agreed though it could come with a burglar for humor reasons.

I cant wait to see all that 2013 brings for city.

Yeah, I think your vision is pretty near correct.  Probably nothing too spectacular inside the building, just a lot (think, robbery) going on outside.

I think it's interesting we're possibly getting another civilian themed building. I miss the days of the simple Post Office and Pizzeria!

Someone else mentioned SWAT. Interesting if it happens. The only other similar set I can think of was the3314 Football Police Unit set, which I always thought was pretty cool (and in retrospect, wish I'd bought somehow)!

Rumor goes around internet that there will be new fireman with all usual stuff (station, ladders car, chiefs car etc...) plus (finaly) a burning house, to put fire out. Great vehicles will continue and you've already heard about musem+ another "chase" set.

Reading the Brickset forum, I came across another rumor:

Quote

The ripcords are on a sort of land vehicle as small as the spinners but sold like Ninjago in singles or 2 packs with tons of accessories. The vehicles are awesome in CHIMA as well they look like the character ( the alligator sea ship looks like an alligator face with heavy artillery and brand new wings for the eagle and hawk characters just wait I'm not making this up trust me you'll see you may or may not like it but theres a ton of it coming out all at once Jan 1st with the galaxy space and turtles and new star wars , ninjago , hero factory, a new palace cinema building to go with the big buildings emporium pet shop ect.,

(Bold typeface added by me)

Some new modular cinema building maybe?

Interesting. Even though I have the Town Plan movie theater, a modular one sounds great.

These rumors sound great, a burning house you say. It is a half destroyed house or a regular house with flame pieces. And the great vehicle theme continues, that means more money out of my pocket.
