[HELP] 42006 B-model Tractor

Recommended Posts

Hi - I was considering building the Tractor 'b' model of the 42006 Excavator and wondered what the forks (axles) we're for on the front. Never seen a tracked vehicle like it, but it looks fairly simple to make a dozer blade for the front, especially since Lego is lacking in mid-size dozers. I'd definitely take off the back attachment since it seems kind of useless in a dozer.

Has anybody done this? Can it be done with some 4x4 tiles w/ 1 row of studs similar to the 8275's front blade? I'm not much of a MOD'er so thought I'd get advice from the ones that know how to best.

Thanks in advance.

First of all, it's not supposed to be a dozer; it's a tracked tractor (a track-tor?). :classic:

The fork in the front, I suppose, is thought to be equipment for lifting and moving bales of hay.

If you want to make a medium sized dozer, how about the 42028 to be released later this year? I made a decent replica of it which you can check out here.. I also made an LDD model of it, which you can download here, as well as motorized version here.. The build is really quite simple, and if a dozer is what you want, I would imagine this is a better solution than modding the 42006 B-model :sweet:

Thanks guys...I didn't realize it was for bales of hay..I'm a city guy. I didn't know how small or large the 42028 was going to be, haven't even seen a pic of it yet. Hopefully they release it in the US as we got passed by on 1H2014 sets for the first time ever.

Got another question concerning the 42006...I realize it was designed to be a grabber instead of a true excavator, but its like a mini-me of the 8043 and goes well scale-wise with the 8294...but it would make a perfect bucket excavator IMO. Since there is a mini-LA powering the grabber feature, I wonder is it possible to retrofit it with a bucket? Unlike the 8294 it would then have all 3 functions instead of just the 2nd LA on the 8294 doing the work of both swinging the bucket and scooping at the same time. Any ideas there?

Thanks as always.

If you want to make this in to a bulldozer, check this out:

Paul - this is excellent, exactly what I was envisioning, thanks for the pics and the links...seems to me this designer took pieces from the 8052 Container Truck and made them into a telehandler MOC.

Just as a FYI, last year I took the claw off this set and fitted it to 8043, I never got around to adding the bucket from 8043 to this set but I am sure you could.
