I probably won't be able to display in Chicago this year. If I just stop by for one day, which day would be the best?

Anybody going over from Europe this year? I'm very much considering it - I've been to several events over here during the past few years, but none in the US.

Quite a few people usually visit from Europe: Cecilie, ace and Ecclesiastes are regulars.

Yeah, I know them quite well, plus a certain modular house builder from the Netherlands - and I think they're all going this year. Was just wondering if anybody else were planning on going over, but Cecilie tells me there aren't normally any more Europeans than that.

VincentKessels usually goes and Copmike, Pandora, Rufus, Quarryman, I Scream Clone, Peppermint M, Norro have all made appearances. So, yeah...there's always the potential for more.

I think he's from the down under side of Europe?

Yes, he is. Nice guy, met him at the EB Event in Billund in May :)

I guess they don't teach geography in Canada anymore… There are two continents in the world; North America and Not North America, which is sometimes referred to as Europe. :classic:

It is awesome to have you guys coming to Chicago. It is exciting for me to see the international aspect of the show continue to develop.

I will see you in June!

Warmest, Bryan

Hi Guys.

I'm looking at coming across from Australia. I notice that the hotel options are for one huge bed or two normal beds. I will be coming alone, so all I need is one normal bed, and presumably there are others in the same situation. Is it normal for folks to share a room?

Owen.

Hey Owen,

I hope you make it! Typically, people double up (or even triple up with turns on the floor) to save money. We don't officially do anything to help find roomies. But, posting here might find you a roommate too. Of course, you could always kidnap Ryan McNaught and stuff him in your suitcase to get him back to Chicago with us too.

I will keep my ears open for others that might be looking for a roommate and point them your direction if I find someone.

I look forward to meeting you in person.

Warmest, Bryan

Hi Bryan.

I hope I make it too! At the moment I'm torn between not wanting to go all the way there for just a weekend, and not having a great desire to see anywhere else traveling alone.

It's nice to know I'm not being too much of a tightwad in hoping for a roommate. I'd appreciate you keeping an ear out for me.

Anyone else reading this thread, I'm looking for a roommate for the weekend! PM or email (my user name @gmail.com) if you're interested. I'll edit this post if the situation changes.

Owen.

EDIT: I figured I should book a room before the dollar falls any further! Still looking for someone to share with though...

Norro is from Ireland and he is coming this year. I know because he is bunking with me and several of my LUG members. Keep posting on this site and you may find a roomie.

For all of the newbies keep an eye out for another thread about BrickWorld Chicago later on. You will all be invited to participate in the Eurobricks / everyone else joins in anyway pizza party I throw after the Saturday public hours. Great way to get to know one another and eat yummy fattening Chicago food!

As a true blooded American... I find it hard to believe anything exists outside of North America and Europe! The Aussies don't count... especially when it is well below zero here in Chicago and they are enjoying summertime there!

Looking forward to sampling this fabled pizza that I've heard so much about...!

Just thought I'd share the knowledge with you that or fellow forum member Ecclesiastes is currently trying to figure out whether to go to BW or not. He has a very good reason not to go - I'll let him elaborate on that if he wants to - but after we talked a bit about the subject at LEGO World in Copenhagen last weekend he seems to be reconsidering. So if we all just tell him here how much we'll miss him if he stays at home, then maybe he'll realise how important it is that he does indeed take the trip ;)

No peer pressure or anything! Just a friendly hint about how sad we'll be if he doesn't come...

enjoying summertime there!

The last two days have been north of 40 degrees Celsius (~100 Fahrenheit) where I live. I'm not sure that counts as 'enjoying' :-)

I did read the previous threads about the pizza party, and I am looking forward to partaking. I think what I might do is book a hotel room anyway - does anybody know how easy it is to update the details with an extra person if I do happen to find someone who wants to share?

Owen.

Of course the Aussies count! Don't listen to these Americans with their self-centered world view

Booking my flight tickets already proved to be a good investment considering that by June I won't have had pizza for 6 months.. :moar:
