<div align='center'>

'Hear them hum!

Watch them run!

Oh, our job is never done,

For our roadways go rolling along!

While you ride;

While you glide:

We are watching "down inside",

So your roadways keep rolling along!

Oh, it's Hie! Hie! Hee!

The rotor men are we -

Check off your sectors loud and strong!

One! Two! Three!

Anywhere you go

You are bound to know

That your roadways are rolling along!

KEEP THEM ROLLING!

That your roadways are rolling along!'</div>

From the Roads Must Roll by Robert Heinlein 1940.

I re-read the short story today and decided to make a MOC of a rotorman with his rotor. They keep the veins of America rolling, taking people and goods to their destination on massive belts.

It's a very good story, I have it in the book 'The Best of Robert Heinlein 1939-1942'

Nice Job. This is one of my favorite sci-fi stories ever. I read the entire future-history a few years ago, and this was one of the stand out parts of that "series".

Based on the title, I was hoping to see more road, but I like that your MOC focuses on a more specific part of the mechanics of the rolling road, and a part that is more essential to the story.

I tried a bit of road above it, but it looked a bit naff. I might make a change or two, add a level of workings and some black baseplates with your typical Eagle Land types "riding" it. This was just a quick build while I had a picture in my head of what I wanted.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to have read the story, most others know of different books but not the short stories.

I want to build a Crooked House next :classic:

Thanks, the high voltage sign seemed like a good idea as the rotors are powered by solar energy and I needed a unit sign because such things are a requirement. :classic:

I've worked out how to add a section of road above the rotor. I shall be building it this evening (unless the cinema and new Star Trek beckon) and I'll post it later on. :classic:

My latest addition to the MOC, a section of the road, with commuters (in typical Eagleland Style).
