This man was not just a man, this man was Kahuka and he was the King of Ookabooka Peek. This day should have been like any other day. The Floating Cadaver containing captain Bob and his crew, would come to hide away their treasures in the caves of the Ookabooka Peek after pillaging a village. King Kahuka had a special arrangement with captain Bob. King Kahuka, or Kinky Hooker as captain Bob and his crew called him, would keep the treasure safe in return for something King Kahuka was very fond of. Captain Bob would sacrifice fresh human meat to the Ookabooka bigmouthed pet god. He especially enjoys the chewy taste of the red-coated shako-wearing soldiers. This normal day however turned into something which resembled something closer to an abnormal day. The soldiers did not wear red coats, they wore blue! These soldiers were not like the calm cowardly sheep that normally got pushed of the plank and dropped like squirming worms in the jaws of the Big Mouth. What I ended up doing was printing out some of the sails in the index here (I think they were from the BSB), and trimming it down to the right size. The I took that template and cut it out on cloth and then punched holes in the corners so it would stay on the mast. Unfortunately I'm not an expert on where sails should go, that's probably a job for one of the CP staff, as most of them know their way around pirate ships! Talon Karrde Posted October 30, 2008 This ship is looking really good, i can't build ships for love nor money so i can sympathise with you, the sails look good IMO and i especially love the stern (teethy! ) The only thing i want to know is how this is going to fit into the "pillage the village" theme, are you going to add a small town section and have the pirates raiding it? I think that the problem you are having with the sails is due to the stern – it’s way too tall, and it makes the back sail looks strange. The rear sail should probably be lower than the frontal and middle sails, so I suggest you lower the stern at least 7 bricks, if not more. That would probably improve the design immensely. Also, can I assume that the final entry will have better pictures than this? Your current shot is way too grainy and dark, but since this is just a work in progress, I understand. I own the Caribbean Clipper and tried to use sails with the approximately the same size, but the ship is quite a bit larger, so it did not look right and I put an additional layer of sails on top, to make the masts a bit higher. I might try looking through that index for some triangular shaped ones. I would perhaps, use more detailed sails, though. I most certainly will! It is just easier to cut them from paper for deciding on the size. The only thing i want to know is how this is going to fit into the "pillage the village" theme, are you going to add a small town section and have the pirates raiding it? I am going to make a long row of prisoners taken while 'pillaging' and them having to walk the plank being 'gifted' to King Kahukas sea monster. I already made the basic shape of the monster and still need to make a rock formation sticking out of some water. I don't have much blue though, so I am still in doubt whether to use regular blue or take all the darkblue panels and roofpieces from the big agent truck. And well the ship should contain escaping prisoners who meet sharks and some prisoners who did not behave correctly and undergo some sort of 'pre' punishment. I agree with you about the stern. however, you give the one option I hoped to be able to avoid Removing the top part of that mast (including that tiny sail) would lower it by 7 bricks, so maybe I'll just do that. As for the back sail, frankly, I don't think it looks all that bad. Lord King of Everything Posted October 30, 2008 (edited) I removed the topsection of the backsail and lowered it two bricks. I have the feeling it looks better. For increasing the size of the frontsail, I might have to remove the front mast (which is now visible due to a flashy light). I love how this boat looks! the beast is really cool, look like the sand-monster on starwars ( the one in the desert , with jabba.. ) , your boat make looks like a ship that can stand in "One Piece" ( a manga) , the ships in this manga always have strange things like the skull hands you put and the mouth at the rear ! that's a really nice start! now I really want to see the finished entry with the minifigs on it and , maybe .. a sea ? ^^ Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

That way, there will be less area between the forward and middle masts, and it will probably fix the problem of the high stern. I must say though, that red sarlacc-like monster is excellent! Lord King of Everything Posted November 2, 2008 Hey all, thanks for the replies, I will continue building next week, as I have to prepare for some job interviews this week It is always such a hassle to stall out all my lego containers, so I don't start building building unless I can build a few hours straight. I have indeed decided to put the front mast back a bit and increase the sail size. Switching the sails looked a bit akward, as the backsail needs to be quite big to look ok. Remember: - Your first pic will be judged - Use all of the 800x600 pixels, it is large enough so you can use it. - Try to create a digital background (with water) to make the total look better, at least for your first pic. - Only use real Lego bricks (except for sails and stuff), read the rules carefully so you will not get disqualified! Legoking Posted November 11, 2008 Opinion Lord King of Everything, you have created a great pirate ship with lots of detail. I like how you put the MTT Trade Federation and Troll Warship pieces to make a very good pirate ship. I like that you have a skulls head in the back of the ship and the skeletons arm towards the front of the ship. Do you have another skull arm on the other side? I think you have done a great job with the sails. The yellow piece that you have included in your pirate ship gives it an even better appearance. Possible Improvements 1) I would put in some more pirates onto your ship. 2) Have some water or some sort of base plate. 3) You could add a plank so when pirates have prisoners, they could be forced to walk the plank. 4) Add a rainbow parrot to have some more color to your MOC. Non-Brick Related 1) I would have some sort of story or plot. 2) Take some close up pictures of the ship and add different views of the ship. 3) Your pictures can be no bigger than 640x480. 4) Your sails are great, but I would switch lined paper to plain white paper. 5) Have a better background for your pictures. Overall- Your MOC is very nicely executed with lots of detail. I really liked that you have combined two non-pirate sets to make a terrific pirate ship. I did not put up a picture of the other side of the pirate ship as it exactly the same, so it contains an arm as well If you think other angles for pictures might be better please post your opinion. I would be most happy to browse through, as this is truly fantastic. I'd like a few more shots of the monster and the landscaping, as they're quite hard to see from the main pictures. I love the gorilla skull especially, and the jutting out sections of rock. The only niggle I have is the cannon fire exploding on the ship. The cannonball hasn't actually hit anything, yet it's exploding! The flames would look better starting closer together, so it looks more like an explosion, and less "wispy". Thrash Posted November 23, 2008 This is great. I really like the monkey skull and the pit in the water, but my favorite detail is the Islander guy with all the yellow and red around him. I'm glad you posted a close up of him. So much action going on here, Kahuka's smoke spiral is beautiful and his"pet" is wonderfully gruesome. I just love seeing all of the excitement on the ship, it feels as though I'm actually on it. This entry is so large and great, I have to divide it into sections. The ship: I think that the spreading flames are perfect and really give a sense of battle and action. It's amazing how you put those extremely detailed skeleton parts on, they are so menacing and detailed. You did a great job with the sails and rigging as well. The ship gets an A+! Water Great work on the SNOT water. Often SNOT water lacks detail, but yours certainly doesn't. Like I said before, Kahuka's pet is perfect. I also think you did well with the waves. The land Beautiful rocks with all of the detailed little caves and plants. The beach also seems to be great, although I can't see it too well. ===================================================================== The only flaw I can find is the lack of an external folder with close-up pictures! With such a great entry like this, I want to see all of the nooks and crannies. Overall, absolutely amazing work with this Lord King of Everything. Certainly one of my favorites.
