LDD MOC: Z-95 Headhunter (Clone Wars)

Recommended Posts

gallery_101_23_281.gif

The clone Z-95 starfighter, known more commonly as the clone Z-95 Headhunter or the Headhunter starfighter after its predecessor model, was a starfighter developed by the Galactic Republic for its clone trooper pilots during the Clone Wars. A variant of the largely popular Incom/Subpro Corporation Z-95 Headhunter, the clone Z-95 starfighter boasted speed and maneuverability because of its sleek design. Clone troopers were often cross-trained as pilots in the Z-95 starfighter and its heavy-duty cousin, the ARC-170 starfighter, due to the similarity in controls of both Incom/Subpro craft. The Republic Navy employed the Z-95 starfighter in several capacities, including escort and starfighter combat against air support from the Navy of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, particularly at the lengthy Battle of Umbara.

Ah ha! I saw that in TCW and wasn't sure what it was, but I liked it. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle!

*Snip*

Is the aspect ratio off because it looks awfully stubby? I like the nose are and the engines, but the back section and the wings just look wrong.

Cool MOC, Stark Mark 5! I would make the height of the picture a little smaller, though. It looks slightly stretched.

The overall design and parts used looks good, but it's to chubby.

Ofcourse, that could be the picture (your Brickshelf link is still not public), but if it isn't,

I'm sure you can easily fix that, starting with the wings.

Not bad design, though the aspect ratio is a little out eh ? (like watching widescreen on an 1980's TV)

Besides that good LDD work 'stark mark 5' ! :classic:

Looks like a good representation but the wings need to be slightly longer. Its basically a one seater ARC-170 without the S foils. I actually was confused when I first saw them.

Not sure what the original ship looks like but this looks rather blocky and lacking in surface detailing/greebling, or maybe that is the way it is suppose to be? :sceptic:

I remember the z-95 from the computer game X-Wing Alliance:

z95.jpg

The game made you fly that for the first set of missions, before handing you an X-Wing :)

Much better, although the wings should be sloped not flat.

Oh yeah! This is awesome great work. I was kind of annoyed they didn't use ARC 170's instead but this is a sweet job on this. A fleet of these would be awesome.

I actually tried to build the wings like that, but nothing worked.

It looks to be fairly simple to do. Increase the wingspan a bit and rebuild the wings such that the 75 slope bricks continue from the engine to the laser cannon.

You can bet that if Lego did make this, it wouldn't be as detailed, and neither would it be worked as SNOT, giving less inspiring thoughts about its great design.

Great work =D

The build looks to be fairly straightforward, and there isn't much SNOT used outside of the wings, so I wouldn't be surprised if a LEGO set turned out to look very similar to this one. And I'm sure Brickdoctor knows how I feel about SNOT wings.
