Carbohydrates Posted June 21, 2010 Hello! I've been getting into Western stuff a bit more lately (I'll have a MOC up soon) due to playing a lot of Red Dead Redemption, and I started looking into the old official Western sets. They're fantastic, but... there are only a few unique figures and many of them repeat often throughout sets, so I started looking for suitable alternatives! So, what minifigs, torsos, and related accessories do you like for Western MOCing? Here's a little list I've put together (mostly of torsos) to look out for. I'm working on building an American town so this is mostly for cowboys and citizens rather than Mexicans, soldiers, or native Americans, but feel free to contribute ideas for those as well! First, the obvious: Bandit 1 Bandit 2 Bandit 3 Bandit 4 Banker Cowboy Blue Shirt Cowboy Red Shirt Sheriff Cowboy Torsos: Adventurers Desert Suspenders and Red Bow Tie Pattern Adventurers Jungle Suit, Brown Vest, Black Tie Pattern Adventurers Orient White Shirt, Green Vest, and Red Bow Tie Pattern Batman Suit Jacket with Gray Vest, Dk Blue Bow Tie Pattern Harry Potter Dark Red Stripe Suit Front, Gray Vest and Tie, Gold Fob Pattern Harry Potter Gilderoy Green Vest Pattern Harry Potter Goblin 1 Pattern Harry Potter Goblin 2 Pattern Harry Potter Pinstriped Suit Jacket, Vest Light Bluish Gray, Blue Tie Pattern Harry Potter Pinstriped Suit Jacket, Vest Silver, Blue Tie Pattern Harry Potter Torn Suit with Buttons, Shirt and Tie Pattern Indiana Jones Waistcoat, Jacket, Green Bow Tie & Diary Pattern Speed Racer Dark Bluish Gray Pinstriped Vest and Red Tie Pattern Speed Racer Dark Orange Vest and Bow Tie Pattern Speed Racer Tweed Vest with Rep Striped Tie Pattern Studios Suit Jacket with Vest and Red Tie Pattern (Gent) I also considered the Toy Story torsos, but they look pretty fake (obviously). Legs: Hips and Legs with Indiana Jones Belts and Holster Pattern Hips and Legs with SW Gunbelt Pattern Hips and Tan Legs with SW Gunbelt Pattern Accessories: Cowboy Hat Cowboy Hat with Silver Star Pattern Top Hat Hat, Wide Brim Flat Hat, Wide Brim Outback Style (Fedora) Bandana Unofficial: gunbelt and bandolier from Brickforge Revolver Rifle Unofficial: Brickarms sawed-off shotgun, M1917 revolver, M1851 Navy revolver, and magnum revolver. Late 1800s-early 1900s only: C96, SMLE, P08, and M1911.

Klaus-Dieter Posted June 22, 2010 (edited) That's a great and very interesting topic, Carbohydrates! I'd say that the most of the torsos you mentioned above can well be used for a Western town. Where necessary you only have to replace the fleesh hands by regular yellow ones. As for the pants: the SW ones work very well but the Indiana Jones don't since there is always a bag for the revolvers. As for the accessory: the guns and revolvers fit perfectly. The whip and the lasso from the IJ theme fit very well, too. And don't forget some boxes, barrels and horses. If you want to get some ideas how to put together some Western minifigs, you can even look through my BS gallery where I build some Western minifigs and set up my Western town Legoredo (these pictures are very unique since I'll surely delete them this year since I'll supposably sell the Classic Train - it doesn't go that perfectly with the Western sets and I need some money for new sets). I wish you good luck for building and am looking forward to see your Western town! Klaus-Dieter Edited June 22, 2010 by Klaus-Dieter
jonwil Posted June 22, 2010 Don't forget the Dynamite piece as an accessory.
Santhor Posted June 22, 2010 For my Western MOCs (after watching 5+ hours of Western shows/movies) I use flesh minifigs, and torsos such as the Rebel trooper in the Blockade Runner and Rebel Trooper Battle Pack from 2008. Also the 2008 Indiana Jones Temple Escape Satipo torso, and the 2009 Ambush in Cairo (Indy's) torso. -Santhor
Carbohydrates Posted June 22, 2010 (edited) thought these female pirate/castle torsos might fit every western town needs a few wenchs Good call! Dunno about the first one, but the other three look great! As for the pants: the SW ones work very well but the Indiana Jones don't since there is always a bag for the revolvers. Thanks! I'm not sure exactly what you mean about the Indy legs, though. Also, you've got a nice layout there! What torso is that on this gentleman? I appreciate the help, though! Edited June 22, 2010 by Carbohydrates
