Pick a Brick service

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I'd like to know if there is a service/arrangement to have parts from various pick-a-brick walls sent internationally.

Given that I live in country with no Lego stores :cry2: , I feel rather envious of those places that do and have access to such a great Lego service. I doubt that the Lego online store will offer the pick-a-brick in a cup as it doesn't appear to be financially viable, especially if people want more of some pieces over others. I saw it being discussed in the topic here: pab cup online!

I don't find the current system on the online store appealing as it was not easy to use, not a great variety in parts and it was expensive (compared to BL anyway). However I'd like to just get a handful/pinch of pieces from all the bins available, or as many of them as possible.

I was able to ask a friend who was visiting the US a while ago if he could pack a cup full of random pieces, but it was just a one-off.

So is there a way to source random parts from pick-a-brick wall at Lego stores and have them delivered? If not, do you think it is a good idea? Or maybe it'd be too expensive and I'd be better off just continuing to use Bricklink.

Cheers.

hiya back!

I havent heard of such a service. But not bad thinking, to place an order for a lego store to order and have someone pick it up or send to you by the store. But after reading this previous sentence, i find that a rather "un-easy procedure". GIven the fact, that BL is way cheaper, more parts availiable and allmost all of them international shipping. -> Search parts, buy at shop, pay and get it send to you....i fear it wont get any easier than this. I live in Europe, we got them stores, but why buy there?? except for brandnew or rare sets, single parts are totally overpriced for the bit of plastic they are. Often they have like 20 different types of bricks, i even been to a store where they only had "left-car doors" in grey at the pick a brick wall. Might have been a "bad one" though. I dont visit stores anymore...

To give you an easy answer and sum things up, i dont consider this a good idea, despite the fact that i do not know if this is even possible. I believe pricing would be higher and you get less to choose from. AND you first have to ask and call around for it to happen.

Hands down for internet buying, especially lego on BL

hope this helped or someone knows better than me....

greets, ron.

Before my local LEGO store became a full store (before that they were an outlet) they would pack containers to ship to people. I don't know if they still do it, or would do it internationally. However, when I've seen them do it, they spent zero time optimizing, so you would not get your money's worth.

Thanks for your responses Ron and fred67, you are right, it would not be worth it. Oh well, time to check what's new on cracklink bricklink then!

Or find distant relatives or friends in countries with a LEGO store near them. The shipping costs and favors owed may or may not be worth it.

I suppose someone could start a small business packing cups and shipping them. Probably not as good as buying a cup and selling the pieces off individually on Bricklink.
