I don't typically buy a lot of SW sets because of the prices, but does anyone else feel that Princess Leia has really been underserved by TLG? I understand that by now there are many different variations of her like there are for other characters, but she never seems to be available in more than one set in a wave, or in a set under $30.

This is a huge bummer for me as a father to two little girls. I'd really like to see TLG do more with the character in the future--she's such an awesome character!

Do other people feel the same way? Am I forgetting about any sets that would disprove this?

This is typical of many characters from the OT... Vader & Luke were only available in the Throne Room Duel set; Han & Leia in the Tydirium. Tho we also got TFA Han as well, and TFA Leia not long after...

If, say, ROTJ was brand new this last year, we'd probably see more than one Leia per wave. It's just not the priority right now, unlike Rey or Finn or other new characters.

I think Leia has been fairly well represented in Lego for the most part - certainly far better than Padme has been. My only real complaint would be her exclusion from both the 2014 ANH wave and UCS Assault on Hoth set. There was no excuse for leaving her out of either of those.

Still it would be nice to have Leia appear in cheaper sets for a change as well as see new minifigures based on her remaining costumes released. We're really just missing Rebels, D'Qar and Bespin Escape at this point - plus a long overdue Cloud City update.

Leia and Padme are the most under-represented Star Wars minifigures, in my opinion. I agree that Leia has not been in many cheap sets, while Han and Luke have both been in $20 sets in the past few years - A-wing and Jabba's Skiff. Both droids have been in cheap sets, including the current Escape Pod. Chewie and Vader seem to be the only ones in really expensive sets, but both have had recent updates which somewhat justify that strategy.

At least they have figures. Ponda Baba is perhaps one of the most iconic OT aliens and he's never even gotten a figure.

I say Lando is the most under-represented Star Wars minifigure.

Agreed. He's only in two sets right?

Four. He was in both the old Jabba's Sail Barge and the new Desert Skiff set.

Still these are things that annoy me about TLG's move to decreasing mini figure counts in sets. I adore the higher level of quality they make figures now but this leads to a severe underrepresentation in many characters. Connecting this to the Marvel and DC sets Princess Leia is sort've a crucial character to SW. Imagine going years between having a spiderman or batman figure. Or having a set with a scene that spiderman plays a massive role in but there's no spiderman *cough cough* No Leia in Assault on Hoth*cough*

My thing is if adding two really cool or important mini figures will make a set cost $10 more, and it's already a $100 set then just do it. I wouldn't mind if that meant we got more characters to flesh out a collection for a nominal price increase. Imagine the UCS Slave 1 for $210 and it came with an additional bespin guard and Lando or just Lando.

Its only egregious in a set such as Darth Vader's Tie Advanced vs A-Wing where the price point begged for an additional figure or two to be added. I know we are not entitled anything but it would be nice.

I thinks she is in the UCS Hoth.

Thats Toryn Farr, not Princess Leia. There's no reason why both characters couldn't have been included in the set, especially considering it already included so many duplicate Rebels and Hoth Han who was also available in a cheaper Hoth themed set that was released around the same time.

I actually had to make a custom Padme a while back. Wasn't there 12 years between the release of a Padme minifigure?

Yeah from 1999-2011 which was pretty ridiculous considering how big a character she was in the prequels. They improved a bit when they started releasing her a bit more frequently for a couple years, but that didn't last long seeing how she was completely absent from last year's TPM sets. :sceptic:

Yes we need a new Lando desperately. In normal clothes not his Jabba's Palace disguise, and by normal I mean hid blue Cloud City outfit. Please TLG, oh please!

Yeah, there are a certainly a couple of characters who haven't been represented enough in sets. I definitely agree with what's been said above about Padme. The amount of times characters like Anakin and Obi Wan have been shoehorned into sets instead of her is quite noticeable.

I think that quite a few female characters haven't always been represented well in sets. When you look at characters like Mon Mothma, who could've easily been included in the A-Wing from 2013 and Shimi, who could have been included in the Sith Infiltrator set from last year, does go to show how Lego can sometimes make weird choices, not just in terms of accuracy but priority too.

LEGO keeps Leia scarce so we can pay big money for her in expensive sets. Why put Leia in Assault on Hoth when she can be in a different expensive Hoth set in 1-2 years? Similar to the new OT storm trooper.... :(

I think a part of Leia's scarcity is what sort of scenes she appeared in in the movies. She's never really been the pilot of a single-person vehicle besides the speeder bikes in RotJ (and those tend to be mostly packaged with other larger scenes and vehicles these days). That alone limits the types of sets she can fit into to larger vehicles (like the Millennium Falcon and Jabba's Sail Barge) and the relatively scarce setting-based sets (most of which, like the Ewok Village, Death Star, and Jabba's Palace, are fairly large themselves). It might be that for Leia to show up more, there need to be more sets based on partial settings rather than full ones—for instance, a set based on the trash compactor or cellblock from ANH or perhaps some other small sets based on sections of Cloud City.

Unlike hasbro does with rey

Hasbro has more Reys than Lego. There's basic Rey, Resistance Rey, Speeder Rey, and multipack Rey (with Finn, Maz, and BB-8)... that's just in 3.75". There is also a 6" Rey with BB-8, and a much-newer Hero Class 12" figure. Lego has one Rey in 3 sets as a minifig (only one of those offering her goggles/mask option), as a keychain, and a buildable Constraction figure.

Not stocking well isn't the same as not producing. Hasbro made a ton of characters and, mostly, had fairly even distribution. But not every character sells equally fast, so stores are at the mercy of whatever assortments they have... with 6" figures, there is usually only 1 per case of a given character; they tend to double up on troopers or villains (Kylo) in some assortments, but that's about it. So if they stock 2 boxes, then there'd be 2 Reys... and since Rey also has BB-8 with her, that makes her extra desirable! So they might sell quickly, and all you're left with are Finns, Chewies, Stormies... whatever.
