LEGO Endeavour?

Recommended Posts

If LEGO ever released the Endeavour from POTC, in all its glory and with good realism, would you buy it? I inquired after its making, but I got a response that said LEGO doesn't accept third-party ideas, but that they might be making it. But would you buy a (hopefully) double decked, big, two stor cabin Endeavour?

Well I seriously doubt they would ever make the HMS Endeavour seeing how its size would demand a very high price-point. Also, I'm inclined to believe that since the HMS Dauntless gets more movie face-time (and is the exact same ship) that was LEGO to make one it would be the Dauntless. To answer your question: if one was made and had enough detail to make it worth the money, yes, I'd buy it.

The Endeavor is a magnificent ship but it has some real problems for getting into a LEGO set. It is too large - if TLG wanted to make it at least in a minifig caricatured scale, according to the BP and QAR it should be around 5-6 middle hull sections long and therefor also a lot wider - around 22 - 26 studs I'd say. This means a lot of new molding. It would also be quite boring minifig-wise. Unless TLG decided to include some characters that would make no sense, there would only be Becket his right hand (forgot his name, but he's already killed by Jones by the time of the last battle) and then there's only a bunch of red/blue coats. And there would never be enough of them to sail such a ship - sets with more than 10 - 12 minifigs are really rear! Not to mention that all this would lead to a 3000+ pieces set and not going to cost under €300. I definitely would not buy such set ...

That's just not realistic, the Endeavor is a ship-of-the-line, it has a 100 cannons,

"in all its glory and with good realism" I don't think so ,

and even if this most unlikely event would occur I won't buy it anyway, would be way too expensive.

I'm pretty convinced that there won't even be a "simple" Endeavor to be sold (simple meaning the way the lego black pearl resembles the real one)

The closest to the Endeavor you can get would be the Imperial flagship, trust me, I doubt there will ever be an official ship holding more than 4 cannons :pirate_sad2:

I guess it's up to you to build your own Endeavor :pir_laugh2:

Good luck, now that I think about it, that ship hasn't been built by anyone yet, most people who actually have the bricks and a well -thought over plan tend to go for real historical ship-of-the-lines.

This one right? :pir-tongue:

May I ask which scale you are going to use for this project? Because even in minifig illusion scale it's pretty big, too big for prefab hull sections. A first rate ship of the line is a very costly and time consuming project! You will be working on it for several months if not a year or even more. I'd suggest to consider these things first before starting. :pir-wink:

Oh, and you need a lot of space for it! And you will have a lot of cleaning (dust) to do. :pir-tongue:

And as for the topic question, I wouldn't buy it. I think it's way more awesome to build your own ship of this size, adding the things you like, and for the price you like. :pir-classic:

Concerning the prefab hull sections; It's about time LEGO did something new with those. Any ship with them ends up looking unrealistic, as the hull just suddenly curves right into the middle of the ship. The IFS looks very weird because of this, as it looks too tall with that flat side, and they tried to cover that up with the decorations. And do you mean to say the IFS can be bought for a reasonable price? All I have seen is more than double LEGO's price, so It's not like I'd get that ship anytime soon.

The endeavor is a pretty awesome ship, but considering its magnificent size, lego would price it at at least $159.99. I would by buy it, if it was cheap enough.

I second that.

My bad, I thought it would just be easier to tell him instead of bothering with reporting.

Also note the name of the ship is the Endeavour - as it's a name the you 'u' should not be omitted.

Technically the full title is "HM Bark Endeavour" but we can at least get the spelling correct.
