Cjd223 Posted February 14, 2016 So I was thinking about bricklinking a UCS Tantive IV but when I was going through some of the parts I noticed that some of the dark red pieces were extremely expensive, as in 11 wheels for over $20 each expensive, as well as a few other pieces. However, I got over my immediate sulk that I could not do it by figuring out an alternative. That night I watched Revenge of the Sith and saw the Tantive IV with a different color scheme, immediately pausing the movie and sprinting to my desktop to open up LDD. I imported the original model and changed all Red pieces to Blue, all Dark Red pieces to Dark Blue, and all Tan pieces to Black. The result was a lot cooler than I would have thought, and honestly, I like it a little better with this color scheme. Obviously there are a few pieces that do not exist in Dark Blue, but luckily for me there are spray-paint cans that exist in Dark Blue. I know, I know, spray-painting Lego is so crazy, so against purists, but hey I am only painting because the pieces do not exist in Dark Blue. As of right now, I do not have a current time expectancy for this project, but I will try my best to get it done as quick as possible, a new Graphics Card and a new Camera are not helping my funds out very much
Kristof Posted February 14, 2016 Didn't you think about some modifications? The part pallette changed a lot since this set was released - some bits would be easier to build with different bricks and a lot could be surely improved, both structural and design wise :) I believe that would be much more interesting endeavor (and surely bigger accomplishment) than trying to track all these old pieces and ending up with just color modification. Ellisss_ Posted February 14, 2016 I like this it is interesting. Do you have have any pictures of the interior. If you have not yet done this I would consider having a medical room and the room where they decide the fate of Amidala's twins. Great colour scheme! I am not happy about the spray spainting however... Also maybe add some modifications instead of copying it 100%! Good luck, Ellis.

I probably will look into some modifications, but this is the basis of what it will look like. There are some missing blue stripes right now, which I plan to fix soon. I cannot completely see too many differences other than color scheme given well, it's the same ship, nothing structurally changed. I never owned this set so I can't speak on how sturdy it is, that may be an issue that I am not aware of
Kristof Posted February 14, 2016 ^Yep, the ship is I guess supposed to be the same in terms of shape. With modifications, I didn't mean changes that would distract the design from the original, I just thought that it could be beneficial to re-design some parts with using newer parts, both costwise and accuracy-wise. I don't think the original is fragile, with newer pieces and techniques however, it could certainly be improved a lot :)
Artizan Posted February 14, 2016 It is not the same ship as in A New Hope, ANH's ship is CR90 Tantive IV, whereas the ship you see in ROTS is CR70 Sundered Heart. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sundered_Heart/Legends

The sundered heart is smaller too. You will need to redo the whole thing if you want t accurate.

Ellisss_ Posted February 14, 2016 the article you mention, says that the Sundered Heart is a heavily modified CR90. This is interesting http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/CR70_corvette. It shows thr Sundered Heart as a CR70 on this page. Yet they are on the same webpage. That proves how Wikipedia is not always accurate. I am pretty sure the sundered heart js a Cr70 though. Well, both are technically correct. It started out as a CR70, but some time after Episode III it was upgraded and converted into a CR90, though it was also given heavy modifications to the engines. The modifications made here look great! It seems to be about the right length for the Sundered Heart, a few other modification to increase the accuracy and it would be perfect.
strider117 Posted February 15, 2016 Nicely done!!! Reminds me a lot of this: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87222
Veynom Posted February 15, 2016 Nice mod. The blue will be a great match for this ship. I suggest you replace the white cylindric panels of the engines by the printed one from the first "escape pod" set, like I did on my CR-90. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=87222 Also, I would suggest to replace here and there a few grey/white parts by blue ones, to have an even better color scheme. Xyrate Posted January 28, 2017 Did you ever build this? I would love to see how it looks with the changed color scheme.
