LDD animating tutorial 3: Grouping and rigging

Recommended Posts

As promised here's the third tutorial where I talk about how to group and move characters in order to animate them.

This is my longest tutorial yet, it took me one day and half a night to make, so any feedback would be nice...

Files:

I challenge you guys to use te provided files and try making a simple animation.

Thanks!

If you don't mind I would like to make one suggestion, which would be to use Blender.

If you enjoy animating you will get a good quality animation using that, plus it is free and you can find lots of tutorials online.

This reminds me traditional animation. Small figure movement and photo, movement and photo. A lot of small work to do.

My wife is a teacher and on some lessons about art they should be doing also traditional animations.

I will share your tutorials with her, because they are good and for kids this Lego+digital might be interesting approach with much better results than traditional camera+figures+photo.

Thank you for your work. :classic:

It's a very interesting approach to stop-motion animation. I'd have assumed you would have saved a separate file per frame, allowing you to go back and "tweak" bits and pieces if they didn't quite look right. Either way props to you for putting the effort in, it takes a lot of effort to do stop motion, especially when you are working against the limitations of LDD in many ways.

Yeah and sometimes it seems the effort you put in is simply not worth the time and the end result...

Don't let the lack of comments deter you from making these great tutorials. If you enjoy it and have the time make a whole bunch.

Remember that using LDD as an animation tool is in it's early days and you are one of it's realisers. so the more you can document the better.

Who knows down the line you could have many followers on a youtube channel if you can hold your enthusiasm and promote your stream.

Good effort and good luck.

If I will have time I may resume... But for now I dont really have much time.
