If Bionicle G2 continued into 2017

Recommended Posts

This might be a little to early to discuss but this idea was on my mind all day after watching the last two episodes of Journey to one. How I think Bionicle could have continued into 2017. Though a slight change to the second half of 2016 is needed for this to work

During the second set of episodes in Journey to one. Makuta would have had Umarak the Destroyer go capture the 6 elemental Creatures as the six elements are what's needed to open the portal to the shadow realm. When Ekimu knocked the MOUP from Makuta's face Makuta's spirit along with the MOUP became trapped in the shadow realm. Makuta's body would have been launched away from the city from the explosion.

The Toa would return to the mask makers city only for it to be attacked by the beasts. The Toa would get overwhelmed and the Creatures would be captured and taken to the crater. Ekimu decides he's been on the sidelines for too long and calls Igil The Creature of light. Ekimu merges with Igil and becomes his 2016 set.

The Toa and Ekimu would travel to the crater to rescue the Creatures. The would arrive to already see Umarak using the Creatures to begin opening the portal. Umarak would capture the Toa in shadow only for Ekimu to use Igil's light to weaken Umarak. This gives Gali a chance to free Akida only for both of there spirits to end up in the shadow realm. There Gali and Akida see Makuta's spirit possesing the MOUP commanding a shadow army planning there escape to Okoto. Akida leads Gali to the carvings in the city that show the six Toa armed with light based armor to combat the shadow. There is another carving but most of it is destroyed. Gali can only make out the words Toa, Elements and Embodiment

Meanwhile without Akida's spirit. Umarak can't extract an elemental crystal from it and the portal can't fully open. The other 5 Toa and Ekimu start fighting Umarak but Umarak calls the Beasts and together manage to separate Igil from Ekimu reverting Ekimu to his Protecter sized form. Umarak uses Igil as a replacement for Akida and extracts six elemental crystals from the Creatures. This allows Makuta to cross over but not before Gali and Akida do first. Gali tells the other Toa and Ekimu what she saw but before she can finish. Makuta's spirit and the MOUP escape the Shadow realm and Makuta possesses Umarak to gain a physical body replacing the Mask of Control with the MOUP. This causes Umarak's body to transform again into the 2017 Makuta set.

Ekimu advises that they need to leave and the Six Toa unite once more with there Creatures and run away with Ekimu taking the Mask of Control with him. Makuta announces his return and tells the Toa they can't hide as the shadow army emerges from the portal. This is where the 2016 Journey to one story ends.

Onto 2017. There would only be one wave of sets as to wrap up the story faster. The sets would be. The six Toa wearing elemental light armor crafted by Ekimu so they can resist the shadow power Makuta has. Six small sets that would be the shadow army Makuta controls (These would be alongside the Beasts) And Makuta possesing Umarak's body with a gold MOUP

The small sets would be 10$. Gali Lewa and Pohatu would be 15$. Tahu, Kopaka and Onua would be 20$. And Makuta would be 30$

Journey to One would have 2 more episodes titled Destiny part 1 and Destiny Part 2.

Part one would show the Toa getting there Light elemental armor and fighting against the Shadow Horde. Ekimu would send them out to find Makuta's Protector body. They would located it frozen and preserved in the region of Ice. They bring back Makuta's body and Ekimu would put the Mask of Control back on his brother's face. He says they can still save Makuta but they would need to separate his spirit from the MOUP. Ekimu merges with Agil again and Ekimu and the Toa head to confront Makuta. Onua carrying Makuta's Protector body with him. The Creatures would stay behind and protect there respective regions alongside the Protectors from Makuta's shadow army and the Beasts.

Part 2 would have them go up against Makuta. They would manage to knock the MOUP off Makuta's face the explostion destroy's Umarak's body and frees Makuta's spirit from the MOUP. Makuta's spirit returning to his Protector body. Makuta would have a change of heart and realize his mistake but before he can fully apologize. Umarak's Spirit would take control of the MOUP and proceed to attack the Toa in a form similar to the one G1 Makuta had in 2001 (This wouldn't be a set)

Gali mentions the other part of the carving she saw and mentions the word Embodiment. Maktuta remembers what the full carving said. The Toa don't draw from the elements of Okoto They are the physical embodiment of the Elements. The Toa decide what they must do to fully stop the MOUP .They proceed to feed there elemental power into the MOUP. They give a speech about Unity Duty and Destiny. This causes the MOUP to overload with elemental energy causing it to explode destroying it and sending Umarak's spirit into the Shadow realm. The Toa are caught in the explosion and but there spirits return to the stars. The episode fades to black and when it fades back in. It cuts to Ekimu and Makuta telling the story to a group of villagers and saying that if evil returns they can call on the Toa once more This is where Bionicle G2 would have ended.

So what do you think. Do you have any ideas how Bionicle G2 could end?

Sounds like a good story idea. Perhaps we should commission some of our resident revamp-ers to make concept models...?

Shhhhh you're ruining my top secret plans...

This is a pretty good idea (Althrough I prefer the "Ekimu is evil" idea) and would have end the story better although it's rushed.

For me, if Bionicle continue to 2017 I would like to see a proper Makuta set with a actual MoUP or even better....... a D2C Bionicle set (Something as great like the UCS sets), althrough the D2C Bionicle set idea is a little bit too far.

Personally, assuming JtO had a more open ending my dream idea for a final wave pf Bionicle would be...one set. Makuta, obviously, but instead of being a straight up figure, perhaps something akin to the 2002 Master Builder set where it gives you pieces for 3 different variants of Makuta, so that you could build him how you envisioned him from the contest footage. Perhaps a late 2016 or early 2017 as a sendoff.

I'd consider adding the Vahi to the story somehow (maybe Makuta needs it for some grand scheme?) and add it to the Makuta set. Also, Mask Maker Makuta: either as one of the small sets or as a build that can be made from the larger Makuta set (like UtH's Shadow trap, only more complex).

Related to your idea of Umarak with the MoUP being the final threat: one idea I had running in my head for a few months was that Umarak was the one who tempted Makuta and fed his jealousy to weaken the Islanders, because they were protecting the Creatures from him (and that he created the Skull Creatures as an early army; that last part can clearly be thrown out the window), but it backfired when Makuta became more powerful than him.

Some of us on the TTV message boards are doing something similar. We have decided to continue with a group of us working on the story plot and sets. We even have a way to get the Mask of Ultimate Power, with the use of 3d Modeling and shapeways. I will post a link to the discord page if you are interested. https://discord.gg/U9SDv

I actually had a dream last night about what it could've been like. This is all verbatim, and I'm filling in a lot of details I can no longer recall.

In the dream, Lego just flat out announced all the sets in one go. I was at a toy shop for the release day of the winter wave, and got to see the summer wave in a catalogue.

Synopsis

Since the departure of the Toa, Okoto had been at peace. All of the Okotans had returned to the City of the Mask Makers, and in only a couple of years had restored it to its former glory. Little did they know that the Makuta and his armies in the Shadow Realm had also been busy. A great rift opened up at the northernmost point of Okoto, which Makuta and his armies used to spill out onto the island, bringing a wave of chaos beneath their feet. The current Protectors became aware of the oncoming invasion, and rushedly gathered with Ekimu to summon the Toa once more, to ward of the impending danger...

Sets

Year three had two waves of sets, split in a similar fashion to 2008. Each one had a B build, much like Technic sets do, which offered different weaponry and switched up armouring.

Winter

  • Lewa, Destined Master of Jungle - £9.99
  • Kopaka, Destined Master of Ice - £9.99
  • Pohatu, Destined Master of Stone - £9.99

Each of the winter wave Toa had a recoloured Uniter mask (their main colour with their trans colour blended), the swivelling Uniter torso, a torso shell like this with a separate printed Superheroes chestplate, a two handed weapon (Pohatu got a hammer, Lewa got an axe and Kopaka got a spear) and a stud shooter (Pohatu and Lewa had them shoulder-mounted, while Kopaka had his built into a shield on his right arm). Each Toa also came with a non-blended gold version of their mask.

  • Otau, Beast Knight of Fire - £11.99
  • Etox, Beast Knight of Water - £11.99
  • Unga, Beast Knight of Earth - £11.99

The Beast Knights were essentially more humanoid versions of the Beasts. They had the swivelling Uniter torso, a shoulder gearbox like that on my modded Ekimu, two weapons each (Otau had flaming swords, Etox had metallic claws with electric sparks coming off of them, and Unga had two massive axes), and gunmetal recolours of Ekimu’s shoulderpads. The Beast knights all wore Beast masks, but blended with their respective elemental trans colours as opposed to lime green.

  • Akiktu the Beast Master - £14.99

Akiktu was basically a large version of Otau, with more Technic-based legs and a bulkier, more buff build. He wielded a really large sword, and had complex gearbox that swung his right arm normally, but moved his left shoulder back and forth a la Quake Beast so he could bat with his clawed left hand. His Beast mask was gunmetal with a trans orange blend, and he also wore gunmetal Ekimu shoulderpads.

  • Puto, Fire Guard - £6.99
  • Eko, Water Guard - £6.99
  • Ogo, Earth Guard - £6.99

These three were fairly identical Okotan villagers, with fancy gearboxes that allowed them to swing a melee weapon up and down in their left hand (Puto had a sword, Eko had a trident, Ogo had a hammer), and draw a very Bohrok-esque shield back and forth. It was hyped up big time on Puto’s boxart that she was a girl (which made even subconscious me cringe), and Eko’s mask was silver and trans dark blue.

  • Beastling of Jungle - £6.99
  • Beastling of Ice - £6.99
  • Beastling of Stone - £6.99

These were essentially tiny Beasts. Each was built practically identically, with arms that could swing up and down with a 2015 gearbox and different appendages (BoJ had clawed wings like a bat, BoI had clawed paws, BoS had big rocky fists). They wore Beast masks of their respective elemental opaque and trans colours.

Summer

  • Tahu, Destined Master of Fire - £11.99
  • Gali, Destined Master of Water - £11.99
  • Onua, Destined Master of Earth - £11.99

These were pretty similarly handled to the winter wave Toa, but each one had a gearbox akin to those used by the Beast Knights and had gold armour here and there. Tahu wielded a new pair of fireswords and had two shoulder-mounted stud shooters, Gali had a new version of her 2015 axe which could yet again be turned into flippers and a trident, and Onua had a new version of his 2015 hammer which could open up like a clam to reveal a stud shooter inside. Oh, and they each came with non-blended gold versions of their masks, of course.

  • Krika, Vermin of Ice - £9.99
  • Bitil, Vermin of Stone - £9.99
  • Gorast, Vermin of Jungle - £9.99

Yes, you read those names right. These guys were all very reminiscent to their Mistika namesakes, but they all wore identical, translucent masks on top of trans orange heads with light blue eye stalks. In fact, these guys were covered in trans pieces, coloured respectively to their elements (Krika being trans white, interestingly). Krika had a Beast Knight gearbox, While Gorast and Bitil had Ikir-esque gearboxes that allowed them to flap Ant-Man wings. Each Vermin included a silver version of their mask, with a trans blend at the top matching their main trans colour.

  • Ekimu the Mask Maker - £7.99

Basically the same build as the guards from the winter wave, but swapped hand orientation and his iconic hammer and mask. He also came with Agil, which could perch on a perch attached to Ekimu’s back.

  • Makuta, Master of Shadow - £39.99

Oh baby. This was basically just the big purple Makuta from the contest video, with a Protector-sized Makuta added as a bonus model. He also included trans purple version of the MoUP, and a really messily blended black and dark orange 2015 MoF.

  • Puto, Fire Guard - £6.99

lol

otherwise a very interesting take on the hypothetical third year of G2. I wouldn't have liked all those masks moulds reused, but the simple return of the Makuta Mistika (even though it would have been just a nod) would have been just brilliant.

Cool stuff.

...yeah, I was made aware of the meaning of her name in a certain European language. Oops.

Bwhahahaha!!! How did I miss that.

In Spanish that is the male form of the title to be technical . :)

It's really a shame that it's over AGAIN. I remember how annoyed I was when they first canceled Bionicle back in 2010 and now I feel even worse. These new ones where pretty good (I liked the 2015 wave much more than the 2016 one) but I think the use of CCBS instead of the old Technic pins held them back from being even better than the old models. Honestly I'm running out room for these though so maybe it's good there won't be any new releases...just bought an old 8943 Axalara T9 and it took up a whole shelf lol.

some cool ideas posted above but unfortunately I can't really see a third revival coming anytime soon. oh well
