the enigma that is badger Posted April 28, 2008 I posted this in the general MOC forum as well, but thought it was worth while to post here, too: I recently took two BrickArms prototype bipods, removed the legs, trimmed the ends a bit, then glued them together to make a connection piece to link two items that are minifig-grippable. I call it the U-Clip! The main reason I tried it: removable bayonet!: Keep in mind, this is my own creation and has no bearing on future plans Will Chapman has for official BrickArms accessories. badger
SlyOwl Posted April 28, 2008 (edited) I posted this before in your "What weapons do you want?" thread: But they used minfig hands, which are cheaper and more common (more colours too)... But I guess the whole concept will get more publicity here; maybe we'll even see an army with bayonets And is there really need for 2 practically identical topics? I call it the U-Clip! This would probably make a really useful official LEGO piece - is there not already anything like it?

I call it the U-Clip! Looks like someone could easily make U-Clips out of the Monopods too. I've liked this idea of the U-Clip. It's just too bad that the dagger doesn't come in other colors besides silver.
MacK Posted April 29, 2008 Its to bad there is no official piece, like that. Would BrickArms be able to produce something like that bayonet clip in full scale as lots would likely be sold. I remeber a while ago I seen a bayonet attached to a gun via an elastic. I just tried it out (using a harpoon I know, as I don't have any Lego knifes ): (Sorry for the blurry pic), it may take a few minutes to get the bayonet attached but once its attached its fairly secure, with out being to bulky. I actually rather like it. Me preparing to use it aganist a dragon attempting to kidnap Indiana Jones .
Mister Phes Posted May 2, 2008 Ok, now someone make an Imperial Guard MOC with a homemade bayonet.
Scouty Posted May 3, 2008 Ok, now someone make an Imperial Guard MOC with a homemade bayonet. I wanted to make a bayonet out of resin that would fit onto a copy of the LEGO flintlock rifle (AKA I'm gonna mold it all). The solution here is very effective and nice, But I feel, with that particular knife, it's a bit too modern for the typical long and skinny bayonet.

Could you post your homemade bayonet, and can't you just mold a new bayonet design more to your liking? Though a really skinny bayonet would likely be very weak. Joey Lock Posted May 3, 2008 I just was surfing Brickshelf for WW2 and found this Bayonet, May have already been used but it looks good:
MacK Posted May 4, 2008 I just was surfing Brickshelf for WW2 and found this Bayonet, May have already been used but it looks good: Good find Joey Lock, that is a good design to bad this might happen since the bayonet blocks the gun barrel . In all seriousness this is a good idea since it requires no custom parts or part modifictation.
the enigma that is badger Posted May 4, 2008 Some new shots: Really, it works quite well for the TLC musket as its long, narrow barrel suits the clip, but the BrickArms M1 Garand doesn't quite work with the clip as gripable portion of the stock ends further back from the end of the barrel. However, as bayonets really weren't a factor in combat in WWII, I'm not bothered by it as much. badger
Kahgarak Posted May 4, 2008 I like it! Although I always use the double flat 1x2 Technic axle connector, which is about the same size XD

This is of course an interesting idea, but needs to be refined. The rifle with the technic pin attached, does put stress marks on the pin, because the sight is a bit thicker than the opening in that pin... TT
Fat Tony Posted May 5, 2008 This was my solution to the problem... A minifig hand holding the musket with the wrist through the guard on the sword. A pirate hook works also but hands are more plentiful.
Capn Frank Posted May 6, 2008 Thank you Badger and everyone else for this great idea! Hope it's ok with you Badger that i posted my version's pics in here. I put on the US Marine uniform again and gave my shot at the infamous U-Clip. (sorry for the blurry pic) As you can see, the bayonet is at the end of the Garand. I added this little rubber piece: This same U-Clip w/out the rubber piece can be used on the standard Musket: Below is a pic of me holding the 3mm rubber hose from my megablocks set, which is where i cut the small rubber piece from: (I think i had finally found a use for all this hose that i've kept from my MB set) No lego bricks were harmed in the creation of this U-Clip. the enigma that is badger Posted May 6, 2008 Thank you Badger and everyone else for this great idea!Hope it's ok with you Badger that i posted my version's pics in here. Not at all! That's actually a very creative solution to the issue of getting the clip onto the Garand. Nice work! badger
Axle Posted May 6, 2008 This was my solution to the problem... A minifig hand holding the musket with the wrist through the guard on the sword. A pirate hook works also but hands are more plentiful. I have to say this is probably the best for me, because I have WAY too many hands lying around. I'm going to use this for my extra cutlasses.
