jonwil Posted November 7, 2010 Here is a MOC of a Holden car dealership (Holden is the Australian arm of General Motors) http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/holden/holden1.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/holden/holden2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/holden/holden3.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/holden/holden4.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/holden/holden5.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/holden/holden6.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/jonwil/holden/holden7.jpg Its based on Melville Motors Holden and (when completed) will have Holden stickers on it and a big Holden sign out the front with more stickers. In the front of the shop you can see a red Holden Barina and a yellow Holden SS Commodore Ute along with 2 dealers and a customer. More cars will be built to be parked around the front of the dealership. You can also see the roller doors leading to the repair shop (and if you look you can just see the mechanics, tools and state-of-the-art Holden diagnostic and repair equipment) On the top level is the office of the dealer principal (the boss of the dealership), you can see him sitting at his desk. Next to him is a filing cabinet for important papers and a cupboard to keep all the keys to the cars as well as a photocopier (the photocopier was the inspiration for this MOC). If you look closely you can also see a table and chairs for customers to sit and wait and talk to dealers etc. There is also a coffee machine behind the table but its hard to get a shot of it (and I dont want to disassemble the MOC to get the shot) And there is an air conditioning unit on the roof along with some skylights. This is the third version of this MOC as it fell apart twice (once when I accidentally stepped on it when I was cleaning up my house and once today when I bumped into someone else whilst carrying it around and had to scramble madly to pick up all the parts)
lightningtiger Posted November 7, 2010 Nice creation there 'jonwil'. Like wow they are really high roller doors.....are you going to tile the floors ? Now I will say the Barina as a 6 wide is too wide for such a small car.....5 wide would suit it better. Do we have any shots of the real one that inspired it, besides any closer interior shot available ? Dam it now you are making me want to build something like this for New Mannum, I'll think about....in the mean time I'll say great job designing and building this. And keep on singing 'Football, Meat Pies, Kangaroos and Holden Cars' !
jonwil Posted November 7, 2010 (edited) Not going to tile the floors. After how much work it was to get the roof on, I dont want to make any further changes to it at all. No shots of the real thing, the best you can get is this Google Street View view: Melville Motors As for the Barina, the design I came up with doesn't lend itself to being built smaller. (plus I dont want to have to disassemble half the MOC to get it out and back in again) Edited November 7, 2010 by jonwil
lightningtiger Posted November 8, 2010 Now I wouldn't say it was based on that one, no exterior uprights in the corners and yours has curved windows.....but I still say very good design job 'jonwil' very good indeed. Keep on driving Holdens !
XimenaPaulina Posted November 8, 2010 Very nice MOC jonwil, the glassed walls are really perfect for a Car Dealership build. The only small thing that distracts me is the two layers of red bricks sandwiched between the glass panels. You should have made them all trans-blue for consistency of the whole glass wall. Aside from that, this is a really good creation, great job!

Keep on driving Holdens ! Its loosely based on that building. Didnt come up with a way to do the exterior verandah :) And I dont drive a Holden :P My brother drives a VY SS and my sister drives an Astra though :P Very nice MOC jonwil, the glassed walls are really perfect for a Car Dealership build. Aside from that, this is a really good creation, great job! I would have replaced the red with trans-blue if I had enough trans-blue but trans-blue 1xn bricks are almost impossible to get in quantity. As it is, this MOC used up a large chunk of my trans-blue supply (and my red)
