DAY 1: RUSH

There is unrest in the forest

There is trouble with the trees

day1-1.png

Standing tall over all the other trees in the heart of Galidor forest is the Elder, Alden Alder. As the trees rouse from their nightly slumber, he begins to speak.

“My brethren, I am glad to see all of you well on this beautiful morn. I fear, however, that much darker days lie ahead.

“As most of you know, the Maples have always been frustrated by the heights the Oaks reach. They feel that the Oaks block all of the light, and become frustrated by their lack of pure sunlight.

“It seems the Maples have decided to take a more aggressive stand. I have evidence that they have contacted the human loggers, guaranteeing access to our sacred grove here at night. Their plans are to allow the loggers to harvest the Oaks at night, removing them and claiming the forest for themselves! We cannot allow this to happen! We must fight back.

day_1-2.png

“I would call out the Maples right now, and admonish them publicly. But in my advanced age, I seem to have forgotten who among you are Maples and who are Oaks. Unfortunately the only way to tell for certain is for me to examine the ring patterns from a tree’s stump.

“So here is what I decree. Each day you must talk amongst yourselves. Then you will vote for the tree you feel most strongly is a Maple. I will contact the humans and have that tree felled during the night, and in the morning I will examine the rings on the stump. Once we have removed all of the Maples, our forest will once again have peace. Yes, some wonderful Oaks may be lost, but our forest will be healthier in the long run for it!

“So that’s it. Go, root out those Maples!”

The trees’ leaves wilt slightly. It will be hard to watch their friends, their forest-mates, die a foul and horrible death. But the Elder’s words are not to be disobeyed. They sadly begin their task…

The Rules, by which we shall play:

1. Each player will be given a character to play. That character will be aligned with either the Oaks or the Maples. To win the game, the Oaks must lynch or kill off all of the Maples, while the Maples need to outnumber the Oaks. Any Third Party characters will have their own win conditions.

2. Each day will be played out in its own topic. During the day you will be able to vote to expel (lynch) a player. Voting must be done in the following format: Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format: Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. A majority vote is required to expel (lynch) a player, meaning that over half of the remaining players must vote for the same player to warrant a lynch.

3. A game day will last for 72 hours. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. The day will end after those 72 hours. After the day has concluded, a night will commence, which will last a maximum of 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 hours of nighttime. You may not post about the game openly on Eurobricks during that time (but may continue to use private messages).

4. The alignment of lynched players, as well as those that died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day.

5. You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to you by the game host via PM. This includes the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage.

6. You may not quote/post anything sent to you by another player via PM. If you wish to use information gained in this way, you must do so in your own words only.

7. Do not play the game outside the day threads. Similarly, do not post out-of-character inside the day threads. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game.

8. If you are dead, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any of the players (living or dead). Any information you had becomes void, and may not be passed on.

9. Don't edit your posts.

10. You must post in every day thread.

11. Violation of the above rules will result in a 5-vote penalty against you on your first offense, and the death of your character on your second offense.

12. If at any time another player asks you to violate these rules (for example, asking you to give them your role PM), report this to the host immediately along with PM proof of the violation.

Oh, but this is a sad day for us all. I wish the loggers would just 'leaf' us alone! (Last one, I swear!)

Yay, it's started! I'm so happy the Rush song has been referenced already as I'm not sure I could hold my tongue any longer. That song has been stuck in my head since sign-ups!

Oh and die, vile Maples, die. Lip service, lip service, day one filller blah blah blah... :hmpf:

You forgot the accusations about all the trees not posting yet because they're busy plotting what to say on the Maple-board (pun NOT intended)

Trees are going to start getting branches broken for bad puns like that. And then the voting will start, and it's only day 1. You sure you wanna make comments like that and get negative attention?

Silly Maples, can't you just stop complaining, give the humans good maple syrup and shade and live in harmony with the rest of us? I would uproot you myself, if I could just move from my spot..........

Elder, Alden Alder

 That's a mouthful.

Yeah, let's do the thing where we find the maples.

Oh my good someones gonna cut us down, damn maple leafs!

Yeah, I haven't got over the time they beat the Blackhawks in November.

I guess that is what trees do shiver and... Stand tall, in one spot.

That was the total amount of RP I can come up with regarding trees, so I am done with that.

This is a big game with 25 players, so we could think 4-5 scum. Also considering the fact that there may/probably is a neutral among us.

Yeah, I haven't got over the time they beat the Blackhawks in November.

Haha, oh sorry. Blackhawk, is that some kind of tree also

Wait... if the maples are complaining about a lack of sun, don't we just chop down all the short trees first? Am I short or tall compared to the rest of you? Couldn't we just get sun therapy lamps to share for everyone and sing kumbaya while we sway in the breeze? Stupid maples.

Gross, Maples. Who even likes Maple syrup anyway?

True. Everyone knows Oak Syrup tastes best. :look:

I'd please like to echo the earlier sentiments of: Blah Blah Maples are bad, baseless assumptions, I'm a tree!

Yeah... Mafia.

I'm fairly sure we are the exact same tree.

I'm still a bit pissed about all of these puns. I'm just waiting for the pun police to get here and arrest all of you. How do you arrest a tree? I don't even know.

Do we all turn into treestumps when we're cut down? Will this be a never ending mafia game?!

True. Everyone knows Oak Syrup tastes best. :look:

How can you say that? Maple syrup tastes the best, for sure. Oak syrup would mean harming oaks. Do you want to hurt oaks?

:hmpf:

The :look: would indicate that I thought Oak Syrup was a silly thing to suggest, but sure, I'll answer this seriously.

Tapping a tree for syrup doesn't kill it.

Sounds like something a maple would know.

Yeah, I haven't got over the time they beat the Blackhawks in November.

Obvious scummy maple here, can't even tell a tree from a hockey team.

Gross, Maples. Who even likes Maple syrup anyway?

Everyone. And that's what maples are good for - keep them carefully controlled, tapped, and get their yummy goodness out. That's all, just bleed em till they eventually die.

How can you say that? Maple syrup tastes the best, for sure. Oak syrup would mean harming oaks. Do you want to hurt oaks?

Oooh, another scum caught already! (meaning Mr. Persimmon there, not Ms. Magnolia who made this comment)

:hmpf:

It may not kill it, but I sure don't want a hole and spigot stuck in me and then my precious sap (do we oaks even HAVE sap?) leeched out...

Such language! Be kind to William or he'll start weeping. I hear he's prone to fits of uncontrollable weeping.

Well no, but it does involve drilling a hole or using an axe/machete in order to get the sap out. Now, as a tree, I think that'd hurt.

It's true. I will start to droop, and no one wants to see that.

I'm a tree. I use Bing.
