What Will The 2016 Deadpool Movie Bring To LEGO?

Recommended Posts

You may or may not have heard but a Deadpool movie is being scheduled for 2016 release with Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson. Although this is 2 years (possibly more) away from release, do you all think we will get LEGO sets for it? We got them for Guardians Of The Galaxy and many other Marvel stuff so Deadpool hopefully will have his own Marvel sub-theme.

Don't get your hopes up. Deadpool is both not a super family friendly character and not part of the MCU (as he's owned by Fox), so don't expect any directly movie based sets for him. We didn't get any sets for the last X-Men movie and we also don't get sets for the Amazing Spider-Man ones or Fantastic Four. The most we could hope for is a comic set that includes Deadpool which is somewhat tied to the movie (Like the X-Men Sentinel set)--but even then, we already got a Deadpool figure two years back--and frainkly he was basically perfect then anyways.

So no. I think it's a safe bet that Deadpool will bring nothing to Lego.

Going with the X-Men thing, he wore a blue and yellow X-Men sit after a bet (something like that). If we ever got a few Deadpool sets that could be a variant. I see yor point with Fox though, didn't know that beforehand. You learn something everyday! :classic:

If anything I'm also hoping for a tie-in set like the X-Men Sentinel set for supporting characters. The previous Deadpool is really good, so with any luck other X-Men heroes or villians could be in any potential Deadpool set.

I do agree that Deadpool isn't quite friendly enough to carry a small Lego series, though.

He's not the first. Ben Affleck played Daredevil and now he's Bats. (Not that I ever saw Daredevil)

But yeah, we're not getting any sets for this directly. Aside from the licensing issues, it's gunna be rated R at best.

I do, however, really hope he gets put in a set as a tie-in, as I missed out on him by two weeks the first time 'round. His aftermarket prices are really high, too :/

Stole the words right out of my mouth.

Well, we already got a Lego Deadpool, and since Fox holds the film rights but Marvel controls merchandising, that's likely all we're going to get.

Deadpool wears the same costume in almost all of the Marvel Universes, even the one where he is a tiny pig. Lego already got his costume dead on. They aren't going to produce any of the variations. There are two very gross versions of him without his mask in The Amazing Spider-Man comics (which ended some time ago) and The Ultimate Spider-Man comics. These are ones Lego would likely never produce.

Ryan Reynolds played Wade Wilson in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie which is owned by Fox, and it is likely that this is just a continuation of this portrayal. I don't get the hate for Ben Affleck as Daredevil, and would have loved a Michael Clark Duncan Kingpin fig, but that too is owned by Fox.

Seeing as he we have already seen him in lego form and all the movies Marvel is releasing in 2016 I think it is very unlikely. Plus with all rights issues it just becomes less likely.

Chances are we will not get a deadpool movie set but we probably will get another set with deadpool since Lego hasn't made any Marvel sets that aren't based in the Marvel Cinematic Universe like X-men, Fantastic Four, or Amazing Spiderman but when X-men Days of Future Past came out we did get a set based off of the X-men Days of Future Past comics and when Amazing Spiderman 2 came out we did get a couple of new Spider-man sets so, like I said before we could possibly get another set with Deadpool.

Lego has had some minifigs with scarring or disfiguration or however you want to describe it - LOTR orcs, Hand of Sauron, SW Palpatine, DC Two Face, zombies, etc. Some have masks or helmets to cover the faces. So it could be done. It is pretty mature content but I wish they would take AFOLs into consideration more often.

Guys, this topic died a while ago, no need to revive it, could an admin lock it or smething?

Or merge it with the Future Marvel Super Heroes Speculation Thread.

I dont think so I thought I heard recently it will be PG13 actually. I could be wrong though

Was announced that it is an r rated movie - the pg13 was an April fools day gag - watch the video on YouTube of it

What will it bring to LEGO? Mostly queries and complaints from consumers about either why they aren't making sets tied to this movie, or why they made a set back in 2012 featuring such a violent, kid-inappropriate character, that's what. :p

Deadpool is being made by Fox. Marvel is currently feuding with Fox. They cancelled Fantastic Four and have denied any merchandising, pretty much pulling the property from the public space. Equally they are steadily downplaying the X-Men in their comic and other media properties and making an effort to shift that role and focus to the INhumans. Going so far as to kill off Wolverine. Deadpool is part of that same Fox license bundle as FF and X-Men. So no we will not be seeing any Lego stuff surrounding the movie. Marvel has absolute veto of any Lego sets, and unless things with Fox change the safe bet is they will exercise it.

If there will be sets based on the deadpool movie they are gonna release in the summer wave. And colossus would be as a big fig in that set. But it will be a doctor strange set that will release
