MOC Soldiers Fort and Trading Post

Recommended Posts

The Imperials have set up a small trading post in the inlet waterways of one of the Caribbean Islands.

Governor Broadside has heard that the notorious pirate, Redbeard, has escaped once again and with his new ship, the Brick Bounty, is terrorising merchant ships on the high seas.

I will add that viewers should click on the photo thumbnail to open a larger photo.

The small port offers refuge for traders and the Blue Coats. It also serves as a merchant trading post in the area.

Broadside and Admiral Woodhouse discuss matters of maritime security over a glass of expensive imported wine. Woodhouse has been sent down by the Admiralty to deal with Broadsides concerns.

Trade through this port involves Rum as well as Sugar Cane from the inland plantations. (Something which remains controversial)

The lapping waves ripple into the port...poetic

Broadside's steward, Carlos, waits patiently to pour more wine for the Governor and his esteemed guest.

The Blue-Coats unpack the munitions and trading goods; much of which will be eventually loaded onto the Flagship which is anchored out in the Bay.

Camille, the Governors daughter, watches out with excitement. She has only just arrived in the Caribbean and it is a far shout from the hustle and bustle of the European cities. Watching over her, at her fathers request, is Lieutenant de Martinet.

Having been arrested during sinking of his Bounty, Captain Brickbeard has been languishing in prison ever since. He has however heard through the frequent traders, that his former mentor, Captain Redbeard has returned with the Brick Bounty.

The local tavern, the Captains Daughter, hosts a collection of ales, rums and other spirits.

The landlady, a spiritualist, often has to bar and ban unruly merchants and would be pirates. Although she feels much happier knowing the blue coats are around ready to maintain order.

That being said sometimes the odd card game ends in violence....

However, schemes are afoot. After several years in retirement (during the tenure of Captain Brickbeard), Redbeard is rumoured to be back. His trusted first mate, Rumney, awaits further news that his old Captain is returning. Deep down Rumney longs to return to sea as a pirate......

But until such time when the Brick Bounty appears off the coast, the tenants of the port enjoy their care free lifestyle....

You've done a good job of using modified sets and incorporating the old familiar characters into the story. Looks like a fun play set to me!

I have enlarged the first photo so that visitors are able to see something at first glance.

Looks ok to me - brick on!

Thank you for that. My photography wasn't too good but I am hoping to get my NIKON out soon

Thank you. I have ordered some more Reddish Brown plates in order to extend the dockside (as it looks somewhat cluttered).

I am also on the look out for the rare Brown Shirted Pirate and BlackJack Hawkins. (I believe I have one being posted from Belgium). My intention is to incorporate this into a small story.

I intend to use all the 'characters' from old and new. One thing I personally believe is that the NEW line is merely a revamp of the old. And therefore despite some new names floating around, in my opinion, these folks are still Broadside, Woodhouse, De Martinet, Rumney and others.

Such a detailed and playable creation. Is it created under the impression of the classic Imperial trading post, 1989? Yours reminds me of that one.

Thank you for your comments. It certainly was. I love the Trading Post (aalthough was never lucky enough to have it). I loved the trading aspect to the Pirates Theme. I guess the pirates need traded goods and merchant ships to pirate!

I keep adding to the set (with new details) This weekend was the Carrot tops/Sugar Canes in the crate as traded goods. Because of this it continues to become more and more cluttered. So I am going to expand this little set. My intention is to eventually have two 32x32 bases. Extending the quayside and having off to one end a rocky cave.....which will be based upon this years Treasure Island set.

I am also wanting to set up some gallows with a pirate skeleton hanging from them. Lego version of Calico Cove!

I'm not sure whether you can see or not, but I have two kegs of Beer inside the small tavern behind the landlady.

Do you know if there will be an official set with a bluecoat ship? There is always great need of ships to carry goods.

I would hope so. But I doubt it. I'm not sure how well the Pirate theme sold this time around. I reckon AFOLs brought them but not so sure about the target audience.

I certainly want there to be an official Blue Coat Ship. Something to act as an escort for the Imperial Flagship. Perhaps a cutter or something.

I'd also love to see far more generic 'Pirate' sets. Such as Trading Vessels. I know they probably won't sell too well with the target audience but you could always sell it as 'Pirate Raiders'

Have a traders vessels with a Pirate rowing boat attacking it in the same fashion that the Blue Coats were boarding the Brick Bounty.

Pirate Raid Set. Medium sized. Trading Cutter. 3x Merchant Sailors. 2 x Pirates in a rowing boat and armed to the teeth. To include plenty of crates and perhaps a play feature net for the crates.

Its a cool fort, I am going to steal your tavern idea and incorporate it into a future build, i like the idea of extending the outwards to include life outside the military :-)

Thank you. I've always liked the idea of having some 'normality' (if you can call it that) in the Pirates Theme. Some merchants etc.

I am going to be extending this over the next month or so (When I can get home.....away with work AGAIN!!! For about six weeks!)

I want to add on a squat brick building with windows which will serve as the tavern. The Outpost (Tavern at the moment) will go back to being an outpost on the fringes of the fort.
